Fps drops due to packet loss and unstable internet?

So when i play fortnite the game runs smooth on 144 fps but then there are sudden drops for a sec to like 30 fps or 14. And when i look on top near the network status the line goes up and down and sometimes red lines show. But after dat the game runs smooth and after a while again. Same for cs go the game will be running at 200+ fps but will suddenly drop to 130fps and back to 200+. I dont have this issue in destiny 2. Nor in paladins. Nor in deciet.Nor in apex legends. I personally feel its my old router.

How old and what brand is the router?  Also, in specific games, it may come down to how they handle lag from other players.   One laggy player in the server can cause all sorts of issues in some games

Its a d-link router. Its around 5 years old or more.

I still don't know what is causing this issue but it seems like the router has some difficulties with direct connections to some of my devices. So I would recommend trying a switch if you have one.

I dont have a switch at home but which brand switch do u have?
