Hi All,

I have recently purchased an Asus ROG GR8 desktop and I am struggling to get a better resolution than 1920*1080.

I have the GR8 connected via HDMI to a Samsung 32" LCD TV (T32E390SX). The tv spec states that it supports upto 1920*1080 but with my previous desktop I was able to achieve a 2K resolution using 'Super Virtual Resolution' via AMD's Radeon software.

With the GR8 it seems I am only able to use the GeForce 750ti that comes in the system when gaming, which I dont do all that often. Otherwise it is using the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400.

I have searched the almighty Google for a way to change which card is in use primarily but found nothing of use.

The Nvidia control panel is of no use as it will only display 3D settings.

Any help to this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The 750Ti supports DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution), which can increase the output resolution to up to four times the pixel-count.

I assume you won't be able to activate that tho because your system automatically switches between two GPUs.
IIRC you should be able to control this behavior with the NVidia Optimus tool.

So I think what you would need to do, is to disable the switching between the GPUs first, then enable DSR within the NVidia control panel and then select the resolution you want to run within Windows. But I don't even know if the 750Ti is even supported by Nvidia Optimus and whether there is even a way to disable the integrated GPU on that system.

Edit:
I also found this:

Maybe you can select which GPU you want to use for a certain program and then enable / disable DSR with the start of a specific program.

Thanks for the info, it doesn't look like the 750 Ti is supported by Optimus.

I'm hoping I can find a way to disable the iGPU and just use the 750, I've checked in the uefi and found nothing so I'm not holding out any hope though.

I am wondering if using a display port cable would make any difference ?

To disable onboard iGPU there has to be a option to turn it off in BIOS.  I mean Sandy Bridge has this option, so yours should as well.
