Does DxDiag contain any harmful information?

Go to solution Solved by Princess Luna,

DXDiag is often used as a quick yet reliable manner to find out your entire hardware, monitor and OS is setup like... like a small full diagnostic.

They are probably just interested in knowing your computer capacity/configuration, whether or not that's privacy violation stuff it's up to you

Hi

Earlier today I applied for a remote job at a tech/gaming company and they asked for a DxDiag as part of the applying process. They also asked for a screenshot of a speedtest to a server in their country so it all sounded legit but now I'm wondering if I haven't disclosed some potentially harmful information. As far as I can see the only potentially critical info would be like my MAC address and motherboard number but other than that I don't see much to worry about but do you think that it was a bad idea? I mean it's one of these job posts where the name of the company isn't revealed but you on the other hand have to tell everything about yourself.... Let me know your thoughts.

Cool I really don't care as long as it can't be used to hack my computer or anything like that. Worst case scenario they'll just find out that I'm running a non-activated version of Windows.

They can not realistically hack you thanks to DXD information.

About windows, running it not activated is not an issue and often the way advised t those who want free Windows experience, if you mean it's "cracked" then DXD also won't show anything to suggest that, you need a different approach to determine it.

Good to know. It's not cracked though, just unactivated.
