Finding out if sim card was used in a phone

So my sister bought a huawei p30. But she wanted p30 pro and somehow the assistant sold her the standard p30. Now she wants to return it but they asked if she inserted the sim card or not and after telling she did they said there's nothing they can do. So if i factory reset the phone is there a way to see if the phone ever had a sim card in it?
