I just built this computer today, the new graphics card isn't in yet so this is the old 760. But I haven't don't any over clocking at all on the 3900x. Let me know what you think, if I should overclock or if this is good? I'm completely inept when it comes to this topic, but I want to learn.

Refreshing my memory with some reviews, I'm seeing ~7050 and up to ~7150 and beyond, so ~6900 is good but a hair under what I'd expect

OK thanks! Does the graphics card have anything to do with the rating? it's pretty bad.

No it's entirely a CPU benchmark.  Try running it a second or third time and see if the numbers are consistent.  All it takes is a stray background process to steal a bit of performance for a moment and drive that number down unfairly.

OK, so to update, I did the following, and got 7124 now, (no O.C)

update bios firmware

install AMD chipset drivers

all windows updates

Ah makes sense, there were some updates that should have helped so it's possible it was that, or just better luck with the random fluctuations.  Either way that seems like what you should expect now :)
