Dual 2080Ti Build Advice

Hey,

So some background, I do 3D modelling and rendering incase anyone is wondering why I have this hardware. So I have 2 2080ti strix cards, and I am wanting to upgrade to a bigger case as well as new motherboard and cpu if I need to. At the moment I have my second gpu setup on my desk connected via a pcie extender as the gpu is too thick to fit into my case under my other gpu (wouldnt want to do that either way as they would be stacked basically touching and that would be horrid for thermals). I want to be able to fit both cards into a case and have some space for breathing and where I would probably just use a 4 slot NV link. CPU wise Id go with what ever, Id like to get one of the new Ryzen CPUs so I dont have spend threadripper prices but I might have to. Id even be open to some how connecting the second gpu via a pcie extender and mounting it in my computer if thats what I had to do. Case wise I would like to go with the 900D (if they ever restock).

 

EDIT - Should mention I would like to hold off on water cooling for right now as thats a really big investment

it should be fine, considering the two slots are 3 slot away from each other.

Should be fine as far as physical space is concerned, but keep in mind that the top card will be choked for air and will run hot.

Oh and that board is pretty bad in VRM temperatures, especially for the price. Asus is already falling behind on Maximus X boards with this, now it gets worse as 9900k draws more power than 8700k. At least get the Extreme, or another brand which I dont see you giving in that far.
