I know I know it's not the most exciting of all things out there but…

Chrome belongs to Google so I'd like something that wouldn't 'steal' my data.

Microsoft and MacOS don't offer a real alternative (never liked either IE/Edge or Safari - ever!).

And Firefox feels a bit 'tired' at least to me (Mac user here)…

Had tried Opera and for a few months it was OK but its many minor issues (inbuilt proxy would never work, some pages would crash and some more I can't remember right now) kept bugging me till I gave up and went looking for something else.

Been using Vivaldi for a few weeks with little to no issues but would like to know more about what's out there.

Read good reviews on Torch (no longer supported for Mac ¬¬), Epic, Midori and so many others that maybe a video with best alternatives to the top-4 (listed above) would be justified? I mean I can't be the only one…

Thanks for the input.

As mentioned, Mac user. Do want to triple-boot eventually but Linux will not be my main OS…

Not really that paranoid about my data ( I am careful and not a drug dealer so… meh…?) just would like a better experience I guess…

And more info - maybe a in depth review in the alternatives - would be nice to know things like what you said about Torch which by the way I didn't know. That would help to make a more informed choice knowing what I would give up for more privacy and what I would have to give away for more 'user-friendliness'.

Don't have much to complain about Vivaldi like I said. And I forgot to mention that before Opera I was using SRWare Iron but that too fell short in a few things I like (extensions for one).

But with so many other options out there maybe a video review would be warranted…?

Anyway it was just a suggestion.

If you really wanted to be sure, w3m on FreeBSD

w3m gives you literally no guarantees on privacy over, say, firefox. I'm not even sure it sends a do not track request by default.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Opera is build on Chromium, just fyi. And there was rumors that the parent company is owned by some country of which US people don't like. Can't remember whether it was Chine or Russia or something else.

Yes most of them are Chromium based which in turn is written in WebKit which if memory serves was developed by Apple for Safari or something like that… Even Edge went that path didn't it…?

Anyway it doesn't make my question moot does it…? ?
