Hey guys, I'm looking to build a new PC here in a few months and I've got about $2k to allocate to it. I've specced out what I believe to be a reasonable build for this range, and I was wanting to see if any of you had any suggestions for parts I should use in lieu of what I've got here. I'm looking to adopt ultrawide with this build, and so I'm also curious if you guys think that this will be suitable to drive a 1440p ultrawide monitor at around 100fps. Also, if any of you have experience with this specific monitor I have listed, I would love to hear anything you have to say about it. Thank you!

I would get an air cooler instead of that AIO, swap the motherboard to the ASUS TUF X570 with WiFi and change the graphics card to 2080 Super or 2070 Super or pick a cheaper 2080 (gaming trio is like $639 with a MIR).

alrighty, so something more like this? yeah it looks like that strix 2080 was a touch overpriced, I only went with it because my last system had a 970 strix so I had experience with it already.

also, do you think that it would be a good idea for me to just shell out the additional few hundred and get the 2080 ti over the super?

That build is a lot better.

The “Super” series is faster so no point buying a non-Super unless it’s discounted.

I’m not a big fan of the D15 cooler either, it is the best in terms of performance but it’s huge and can block RAM slots and requires low profile RAM (like the RAM you selected), I like the NH-U12A as it doesn’t interfere with RAM at all and is still a very good cooler. There are also some really nice Dark Rock coolers if you like blacked out ones, just make sure you search if the cooler has AM4 RAM clearance.

you should also look at getting 2x 140mm fans for the front panel as the case only includes 2x fans, one for the top and one for the rear.

As for the 2080 Ti it’s kind of up to you, you’re looking at about 20% more performance for 30-50% more cost. I personally would spend that extra money on upgrading the CPU to a 3700X.

The Ram he has selected (Corsair LPX) is low profile.
