Haven't bought a monitor since 2014 and it's time to upgrade. Need advice.

I'm looking to buy a new computer monitor for my rig since the last monitor I bought was when I was a senior in college. I tend to do more video editing than gaming nowadays, so I was looking at the ViewSonic VP2468. I still mostly do 1080p gaming since I won't be upgrading my GTX 1060 6gb till next year. Does anyone have this monitor and would recommend it? For reference, I am using an ASUS VS239H-P and in desperate need of an upgrade.

what makes you wanna upgrade? hard to recommend another 1080p IPS display, the 1060 is also capable of doing well at 1440p so I'd recommend that. What do you want to spend?

My current monitor has a few scratches and dings on the actual display due to moving a lot in the last couple of years; it has seen some collateral damage. Honestly, monitors are something I have very little knowledge on, and to your point, I am not even sure if it's worth an upgrade if I'm not going to do 1440p. The GTX 1060 was holding me back on the jump to 1440p as I was unsure if it would be able to handle it well. Would the BenQ PD2700Q be a more worthwhile upgrade? Ideally, I would like to go another five years without having to upgrade the monitor again.

The 1060 can't do 1440p in demanding titles unless it's on the low-medium presets.

well I don't said it will be highest settings possible, but if OP wants to upgrade the gpu next year anyways and gaming is not the main priority, I don't see a point in sticking with 1080p
Even my 970 manages GTA V, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars on relatively highish settings at 1440p, as the 1060 is a few percent ahead this shouldn't be a problem.

From a quick look it seems fine, if your fine with the quite prominent bezels.
I'm personally very happy with dells ultrasharp lineup, this one is the 27" variant of mine: https://www.amazon.com/DELL-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor-UP2716D/dp/B012AQIOL8/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=dell+up27&qid=1566573073&s=gateway&sr=8-1

They work really well in my opinion and have great connectivity (USB3.0 hub with two connectable computers, so it switches with the display input, good variety of display connections)
