Cards that can handle 4k

Ive been searching for quadro P520 which is on the thinkpad P53s but I cant find how it performs in 4K resolution. Would a quadro P520 with 2GB of vRAM handle resolutions like 4K?

Depends on what you're doing. For gaming, no. Just no. For rendering and viewing, yes.

4K with 384 cores? you wont be gaming on that resolution. It probably can handle 3D designs and rendering sure, as long you are willing to wait.

Nope not for gaming at all. Just some CAD works and photoshop.. mostly 2D graphics. And for movies also. How about comparing it to an Intel UHD 620 IGP?

for 2d only apps , almost any recent gpu will run anything in 4k then so long as the gpu supports the resolution

Thank you. This is what the specs are. Any alternatives you would suggest or comments about the specs? it is on sale at 1400 USD.

I'm the worst person to ask as I feel laptops are disposable tech that should always be low cost due to their short lifespan and slow relative speed to performance ratio. Maybe someone who likes expensive laptops can jump in here

Those Lenovo Thinkpads are pretty good. Like @emosun said they are going to have a shorter lifespan than a traditional PC. I have a Lenovo Y500 from 2012 that is still running strong. Keep in mind that the P520 has a 64 bit memory bus so you may have varied performance in CAD applications depending on the complexity of the project. Alternatively if you find a laptop with the P620, that has been bumped to 4GB vram with a higher bit bus, which may be more preferable. There are a couple of MSI workstation laptops that have this card in them. 

I would recommend looking up reviews of the P520/P620 working in your CAD application and seeing how they perform. If the P520 does exactly what you need and meets your expectations then I think the laptop above is fine. Although the price is a tad bit steep.

Edit: A quick search on Newegg I was able to find a couple laptops with stronger GPU/CPU but less RAM and Storage space. Also slightly cheaper than the Lenovo listed above.
