Best SFF Graphics Card

Hi All

 

Building a PC for a mate on a tight budget of AUD800.00 and am in need of a small form factor graphics card (to fit into an ex service Dell pc). I've used a GTX 1050 before with continual issues with the graphics drivers crashing. Can anyone offer any options? I've looked and looked and haven't found anything other than the GT 1030/GTX 1050/ti

 

For reference he will be playing some LoL, CSGO and minecraft (with shaders I think)

could be the OEM motherboard screwing with things. That's why upgrading prebuilt systems arent as good of an idea as they sound like (or how Youtubers make it sound like)

I bought a 1050ti due to power constraints with initial build, a RX 570 will thrash that and is a better price, for a new component about as good as you can get performance per dollar

 

Edit: Sorry i bring up 1050ti vs 570 because the 1050ti can still, bearly, but still play most games at 1080p 80-100fps+ (newer stuff, PUBG, Apex, BF, Rising Storm titles etc) on mix of low or medium settings , in CSGO more like 300fps+

Cougar is a good value brand for ITX, but if you can find supplier in your region check out the Cougar QBX (Kaze), the M110 is probably pretty good, but the QBX, and QBX Kaze (more airflow basically) are basically slightly larger NCase M1 ripoffs, but overall smaller then M110 in a good way.  Like the Ncase M1 they have crazy expandibility for CPU cooling (up to 240mm AIO rad if you move the hard-drive off the swing-panel later on) and so far as i know are overall smaller then the M110.  Noteworthy about either of the QBX cases ('Kaze' or not) is the thermals and relative ease of build, again this is due to basically them ripping off the NCase M1, but thats fine, we can't all afford premium brushed aluminum ITX cases

Both are 50$ish dollar so check into availability and price in your region. 

Im a dumby and saw M110 and thought ITX build, ill leave what i wrote there incase it somehow became relevant but for M-ATX seems perfect

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

You can run without a liscense untill he can afford a grey or genuine key. There are also student liscences that one can get.

The graphics drivers were crashing - as in the screen was straight up going black in the middle of a game. It sounds more like an issue with the PC tbh...

I'm having similar issues with a Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti LP in a Optiplex 9020 SFF.

 

During gaming or hard GPU usage in general graphics output sometimes goes black. I think I've found the direct reason for these crashes to be the temperature sensor in the GPU sometimes giving up on me, reporting a constand temperature in the 30s while the real temp is clearly much higher. Leading to constant high voltages and GPU frequencies, a very low fan RPM, and eventually the screen goes black.

 

I've been thinking the issue was with my GPU, but maybe there's a more general problem with this Dell + 1050 Ti combo. Did you have yours in the PCIe 4x slot?
