What's wrong with Epic? The games run flawlessly. And what reason could you possibly have to prefer to pay $55.00 for Steam versions of the same games? Once the games are loaded up and running, you're no longer doing much with Steam. You're playing the games.

security breaches, 3rd party exclusivity bullshit(sometimes weeks before a steam launch, not sure why there's no government investigation yet...), NO FUCKING SHOPPING CART (that a school IT student could figure out), pretty sure there's some other issues that i can't remember. Laughable. Explain how this matters when nothing about my true identity is involved. And every single game I play, I'm still playing. Without a single issue.

Why worry about whatever this is? If whatever this is wasn't inside your head, there's no reason to worry about whatever it is. As for government investigation, unless this government gets paid out the yin yang, they have no reason to be involved.

1 hour ago, Herman Mcpootis said:

You have to be joking. You have to be. This is something that cannot matter to thousands of people. Even if real life grocery stores didn't have shopping carts, people would still get their food. And they would get it conveniently. With or without a shopping cart, you get what you pay for. Isn't that all that actually matters?

There's security concerns, not security breaches. And outside of reading some Steam information, none of it's been founded on anything. The stuff it reads from Steam is basically just your games and friends list. Let's also not forget that ANYONE who uses the UE4 engine (Which is MASSIVELY popular in both indie and AAA studios) has had to use the Epic launcher for years.

3rd party exclusivity is up to the publisher, and it's only a timed exclusivity. The same shits been done with Destiny on PS4 and COD on Xbox. Why the fuck would the government investigate a private business decision? Is Epic blackmailing every publisher? Are they actually paying publishers for exclusives, or are the publishers thinking the more generous profit sharing might actually make them more money? As is the case with Metro Exodus, Deep Silver decided last minute to switch to Epic. Epic would have to pay DS well over a few million to buy exclusivity. Indie devs like Double Damage and their game Rebel Galaxy Outlaw (He's actually explicitly talked about the deal) are trying to push the store forward for the more generous profit sharing. Steam takes a third of your revenue for doing shit all.

I don't buy things from Steam in a shopping cart. I did once, and then wanted to refund a single item from the purchase, but dipshit Steam refunded the entire purchase and the games I had bought on sale were no longer on sale. Buying them back essentially lost me money because Steam sucks. I buy games one at a time now. Also, generally speaking, I'm only buying one game at a time.

That's not good, sound is one of the best elements of HLD. What's wrong with it exactly? Everything is working just fine on my end. In fact, the game audio is that of movie quality in HLD. Reminds me of THX when at the movie theater. I have surround sound and it's great with HLD. Takes full advantage of it and I crank it up.

Hmm. It's giving me the glitchy crackles. I looked up the soundtrack and some gameplay and it's not right at all. I tried changing my audio format to something lower and tried using my headphones, but none of it worked. Anything I found on google had either no answers or was talking about a Geiger counter or something.

BTW, if you haven't tried Mutant Year Zero, the audio is generally pretty good, but the surround sound... spatialization is really weird. Your character will fire a shot off and you'll hear it behind you, despite the character always being in front. Even if it was taking the sound sources from the characters position it's still wrong.

Edit* I did a video.

I forgot that the music is loud as fuck and couldn't be bothered to do it again. Point is, the audio otherwise works perfectly fine on my PC.

Sounds like these games are not the issue because both HLD and MYZ sound great on my PC. Cracking audio can be caused by a number of things. Updating your sound drivers could be it. A loose cable in the back could be it(what causes my sound to crackle or go in and out sometimes, I have to position it a certain way at times). Audio quality can also present problems in certain games. It's in the Advanced tab of your Speaker Properties found in the Playback tab of your Sound settings. Where you change 16 bit or 24 bit or CD or DVD or Studio Quality. Might wanna give them each a try and look for any changes in those particular games, starting with HLD since it seems to have worse issues. You could also try disabling audio enhancements in Speaker Properties. Also, some sound drivers could have issues with the “Exclusive Mode” option that allows certain games to take exclusive control of your sound card. This shouldn’t really be an issue but it is possible.

That weird surround sound issue in MYZ I'm not exactly familiar with as I've never heard it do what you described in the game. May want to check and make sure Spatial Sound is OFF in the Spatial Sound tab right next to enhancements.

An issue of this magnitude will take quite a bit of fiddling around with to find a fix. Hope you find it sooner than later.

Holy shit that sounds bad. Aside from the troubleshooting steps I gave above, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Do you by chance have your PC plugged in via HDMI? Some games can present audio issues like this when plugged in via HDMI. It's very rare but it can happen in certain games. I don't think this is it really, just noting down any steps I can think of because a lot of the time overlooked steps are the steps that can cause the issues.

It's HDMI to my AVR. So the only audio driver would be the Nvidia defaults and I can't do anything with it. I'm on Win7 so I don't have any weird audio things going on and I have all the enhancements and stuff turned off. I already tried turning down the audio quality since that's what I need to do for Steep.

The only enhancements I can enable anyways are EQ and bass management. nothing that would cause that to happen.

I guess I could re-install it, but I don't know what it would change. I didn't touch anything in game and it's a completely fresh install.

Wow, ever thought about the upgrade to Windows 10? It's so much better than how it used to be back in 2015. I also think that it's very possible this issue could be a bug related to Windows 7 running HLD on it. May want to open a ticket with Epic letting them know you're using Windows 7 and see if someone else has had the same issue and sent it in.

It would rule it out. It's tough to distinguish the issue so trying as many things as possible would be what I'd do. It's a pretty common step too, it might just work.

Also, have you by chance tried running the game as Administrator? Or verifying the game from your library? There's a little settings icon on every game. Click on it then click verify. I'm guessing it's like the Steam verifying integrity thingy.

Win7 is still the #1 OS. HLD also came out in 2016, if Google is to be believed. And I don't have the money to buy Win10, despite having literally no other reason to bother upgrading, maybe aside from the fact that it plays a little nicer with my multi-monitor setup.

Alrighty, well verify didn't do anything.

No clue if Epic verifies the library, I just know it's something you can try to see what it does. If it did nothing, it's another step to add to your list of things ruled out. I meant Win7 is still the #1 most used OS. Win10 is getting larger since MS is shoving it down peoples throats, but Win7 is still the majority.

I don't understand the upgrade. First off, since it's an "upgrade" and not a clean install, it leaves a bunch of legacy Win7 stuff. When I go for a new install I format the drive. According to MS Win7 takes 20gb, but I think it's more like 40. I've deleted about 10-15gb of useless crap out of my install. Then if I ever try to re-install, what's the procedure there? Do I reinstall my copy of Win7 with the key, or do I get one for Win10? I actually have the same question for laptops since most don't seem to provide a key with the laptop. And again... I just don't really have a reason to. The best reason would be DX12 support, which I think is now being ported to Win7 anyways, and most games don't use it. And if they did, my hardware isn't good enough to run modern games anymore now that apparently no one seems to care about optimization.

I also meant Win10 plays more nicely. But while being able to do snapping on all 3 monitors is nice, it's not enough to justify buying a new OS. Pretty sure it still sucks when you use NV surround too, but I haven't played with that.

Go to the official website to install W10 and install it. When a prompt pops up for a key, you put in your Windows 7 key. Bottabing, bottaboom, you have Windows 10.

8 hours ago, JZStudios said:

DX12 support

DX12 is nothing special. I mostly just use DX11. Not much of a difference to worry about using DX12 that I know of. The best reason to have Windows 10 is just to have Windows 10. I never even used Windows 7 so I have no attachment to it. I do have an attachment to Windows XP but Windows 10 is insanely better than XP. So I can understand why you're still on 7. The upgrade made all the sense in the world at the time but I do remember it being hard to let go of Windows XP simply because of how familiar I am with Windows XP. I mean, I can almost operate XP blind because I skipped Windows 7 and 8. Imagine having the willpower to do that.

You may like using your classic applications such as Windows Photo Viewer or Windows Movie Maker(or whatever it is you like using in the application department). But there's always a newer application to take the place of those. And sure you'll have to get used to them but it's not that difficult to be honest. I can understand why you're still on 7 but 10 is simply put, the one to use nowadays. If anything justifies it, Windows 7 released in July of 2009. So last month would be the decade it's been around. Perfect time to make the jump to 10 if you ask me. I did the same thing with the good ol' Xbox 360. Waited an entire decade before upgrading to Xbox One. Not even a year later, my Xbox One just collects dust and free games every 1st and 16th of every month. Of which I don't even play. I even finally got Gears of War 4 on the 1st of this month for free from Xbox Gold. Haven't even touched it. And it has 4K support. Such a shame.

8 hours ago, JZStudios said:

It costs $0.00 to install Windows 10 at any moment in time. No matter if you already have 7, 8 or no OS at all. Windows 10 also has more features, a more modern interface(it's become really modern nowadays) and enhanced security when compared to Windows 7.

Alright, I guess Win10 is now #1, since MS forced it on people. Win7 is a close second. Last I looked was a year or two ago, when Win7 was #1.

So the Win10 is an upgrade, not a clean install? Not interested. If I could take the Win10 ISO I have ripped and use my Win7 key for a clean install, that might be worth it.

Image result for sweet mother of god iron giant gif

What did you even use it for? Also, there's a lot of people that use their Win7 for HTPCs with Windows Media Center, which was completely removed from Win10. I don't use it, but there isn't necessarily anything to replace it. For media player they had Groove, and then killed that and sold it to Spotify or whatever, which sucks ass.

I won't upgrade to Win8 because I hate everything about it, and Win10 is NOT AT ALL more secure. Constant internet connection and forced updates, with the ability for MS to record your keystrokes. Anyone who actually requires confidentiality and security SHOULD NOT move to Win10. Pretty sure my dad still has classified information on floppy discs. He still has an XP machine (Primarily because of a CAD software he doesn't have a newer version of) that he keeps completely disconnected from the internet because of what he has stored on it. Win10 is absolutely riddled with back doors, and they all turn themselves on by default. And there's no guarantee that the switch in the OS actually does anything, like Amazon Alexa, Google... whatever, and Siri all recording constantly and sending them back to either their respective companies, or third party companies. I don't trust any of that shit. Much less my dad who was actually in the industry of classified shit that required real cyber security.

Does it really apply to me? Not really, I don't do classified things, but I also don't like my phone listening in on me or tracking my GPS coordinates 24/7. Why would I let MS record every keystroke I make? and if MS can do, so can anyone else.

I saw that. It's a decent game but I rarely install games from GameSessions anymore. They're just not consistent enough at all to worry about. And they don't let you use MSI Afterburner while gaming. That's a deal breaker for me. I gotta know what my shit is doin'.

Windows XP? Gaming and movie playing. Internet surfing. The usual stuff. I also edited a lot of video using Windows Movie Maker.

What games were you playing on XP? And editing in Movie Maker is trash. I don't think Win7 even includes it by default.

Disable it all and get rid of it completely.

You can't remove MS built in spyware, and it auto-re-enables them sometimes.

I didn't go for the game because I don't like platformers. I did snag that Grid Autosport, but having to launch their thing that constantly tells me to buy it on Steam is annoying.
