PSU tier lists are evil! :(

Thanks for the information tho!

What's OCP and OPP? Would be nice to have a little explanation for what that means, so everyone can understand what you're talking about.

I understand the units haven't been properly examined. Hopefully we get more info soon enough, after all people will want Seasonic regardless therefore if they can provide a better product to them that's still a win.

I should explain!

Over Current Protection, or OCP, shuts down the unit when too much current is drawed from one rail.

Over Power Protection, or OPP, shuts down the unit when too much power is being drawn from the unit.

You misquoted his post. What he actually said is:

16 hours ago, LienusLateTips said:

Antec High Current Gamer Gold

High Current Gamer Gold are on Seasonic Focus Plus. Why not Google it if you weren't sure? ?

Unfortunately even if Lienus actually wrote about the old High Current Gamer series, then saying "it's a Delta" is still not the right answer - most of those PSUs used Seasonic GB Bronze platform (400, 520, 620, and the modular versions of those), some of them used Seasonic AM (750M and 850M), and finally the others used Delta (750 and 900).

4 hours ago, LukeSavenije said:

hm... so they actually did make that, unlike the core (5 years ago now?)

The Core does exist:

https://seasonic.com/core-gx

https://seasonic.com/core-gm

https://seasonic.com/core-gc

Unfortunately you can't actually buy it, and seems like they didn't start mass producing it either - all the photos and videos on the page are computer generated.

ROG Strix 1200W uses Prime Ultra Platinum 1200W, with no changes in silicon.

I'd still take the Focus Gold over the M12II FYI.

I'll update it though. That thread is OLD.

Yes I have read about Seasonic customers on amazon.  Like 80 percent of the reviews or posts are a botched PSU.  Grab a Be Quiet or a Corsair serries or a EVGA.  Seasonic is very shady and their warranty is not like Crucial which is 5 years and 10 years on their premium base.

This was just pointed out to me today. Previously I never noticed and "assumed" that their products were rated at 50°C.  But then they put this blurb on their website:

Yep!

https://seasonic.com/platinum-xp2-xp3#specification

Now, it may not account for all Seasonic BASED products.  For example, the AX PRD specifically states that the PSU operates at full load continuously at 50°C with no de-rate.

When I get it should I send it back and get another one? It's only gonna be used for a media server PC with an i5 7500.

If he can't ship it back w/o penalty is it worth asking Seasonic for the cables with built-in Caps so at least there's less chance an overpower would deliver gross amounts of ripple?  Then at least the issue can be mitigated pretty well and the user can just pretend it's a normal PSU?

I've got it in atm, since I would have to pay a fee. It's working fine, but would SeaSonic send somethin like that to me in AUS?
