Had a power outage this morning, 

the systems was offline for three hours, so my daily ppd will drop some.

I even woke up in the night, wondering why things were so silent. I just vent back to sleep though....

It's kinda a shame how the points system appears to work on folding@home. 
 

I have been playing with the number of threads (CPU slots) I can push on the client to see how many individual work units I can clear in a day.

The result is I can use a Threadripper and a Ryzen to push out many more work units a day, but it results in actually less PPD than if I just kill half those slots and let the GPUs do the bulk of the work due to the processing bandwidth required by a 2080 Super / 1080 Ti.

Kind of a strange offset to fold more individual work units and get less PPD.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thats the QRB in effect,

 

For F@H its better to have less WUs processed more quickly than it is to have higher WU counts. I'm not sure why that is but here we are.

Nope, not that fancy. Just 8 systems, 5 dual GPU and 3 single running in the unfinished portion of the basement. The hardest part was finding adequate power without overloading individual circuits. I had to run a 14awg extension cord to get them all running.

 

2.9kW has proven to be enough heat that I haven’t had to turn on the central heating yet but I must admit I’m not looking forward to the Hydro Bill this month.

oof. won't be able to get more power for folding, found a 1440p 144Hz monitor in my price range, so i will be getting that instead (it was also reasonably well reviewed by hardware unboxed, although i still need to look at more)
