LTT Official Folding Month 2019!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Alright guys, the time for locking this thread has come, can you all please use the Folding Community Board for all further talk.

Thank you all again for participating in the event.

Once the sheet is cleaned up I will edit this post to add the link to the spreadsheet.

@TVwazhere Can you please lock this thread for me.

Sorry, but can someone explain what folding is to me?

This is a reference to what proteins do within the body, they fold. To drag in a quote from foldingathome.org,

Quote

In order to carry out their function (e.g. as enzymes or antibodies), they must take on a particular shape, also known as a “fold.” Thus, proteins are truly amazing machines: before they do their work, they assemble themselves! This self-assembly is called “folding.” ~ https://foldingathome.org/diseases/

the Folding at Home software you can find here, will allow your computer to be part of the distributed computing project. The software aids research by simulating protein folding, of which the calculations that need to be done are very immense. So instead of giant blocks of calculations, they break them down into work units, and pass the work units onto several individual computers with the software set up. In a way, this distributed computer project makes for a supercomputer.

How in the even did you get 500k points in a day? My RX580 has been working 24/7 for 1 and a half days and I only have 3 WUs, and 87k points.

your first 10 WU's aren't elegible for quick-return-bonus, you also need to get a passkey for the QRB

back when Core22 was active i could get up to 3.2 million points/day. back on Core21 i'm at about 2.2mPPD with the 2080ti

Your 580 should pull approximately 340k PPD. Have you got a passkey for the quick return bonus points? Also, you will need to return 10 WU's before you'll start getting the bonus points, and remember if you're CPU folding also that you need to leave a core spare for your OS and another for managing the GPU folding.

I have just "signed up" for a passkey. I only have done 3 WUs. (you can check my stats here). That's why I only make around 80k a day.

if you want to offset the memory on the 970 i'd reccomend about a +125 offset which should leave you at 7.75gt/s, which is a healthy bump and it shouldn't cause anything to fail. BUT, it would be much much better for you to just make sure the card is folding in P0 state and to bump your core speeds a few mhz

Yeah, all things operating correctly (making sure you've entered your passkey into the FAH client) then you should see it increase once you've completed the 10 WU's.

If you haven't checked it out already, the website below will show you your stats, as well as the teams. Just search with your FAH id...  Plus once you complete 10 WU's, you'll start getting the QRB points (although they may not appear in the client PPD readout due to the current bug, as mentioned above).

Well this doesn't make sense. Both the folding at home webcontrol AND my team points are lower than the work_ack says.

Both say 93k but my logs are showing way higher numbers

Hmm, now when I try to overclock my memory or gpu clock it won't set, when I apply changes it reset to previous settings...
