You actually attempted to use a MacBook Pro Throttler for Folding? Have you tried putting it in the freezer?

I had to see what ppd was.

it was about 250 137 points a day or something ? (just remembered)

Ok I am back with more questions.

I need to turn off the computer that's currently folding but clicking on stop folding is showing me 2 options. Either to finish the current work unit or just "stop". What do I do ?

just stop it. if you click finish it will just keep on folding untill all WU's are finished, and depending on how much time is left on those it might take a long while.\

if you just pause the slots you can then safely turn off the pc

Clicking on stop on the web control gives me the 2 options I mentioned.

BTW how do I get the advanced control ?

You only have 2 cars one not very special and the other not at all, so I'm sure your computer hobby is more expensive and depending where you live might not be a "requirement" which if it's the case for the vehicles than they are no longer a hobby. The one on the right is either a Dodge or a Jeep, if a Dodge how is that thing even still working ?

The advance control they are referring to I think is the actual FAhControl program on the computer (could be wrong)

In your Windows Tray on the bottom right (Might be in the hidden area) Right click on the Folding@Home icon and select Advanced control

It's neither. 2004 Ford Expedition. Though your question of "how is it still running" is fairly valid with the amount of rust the frame has. New York Winters ?‍♂️

clicking pause on the advanced control is actually exactly the same as clicking stop on the web control, eventough they are named differently.

when you click stop folding on the web control, in reality the WU's just pause.

I was close to buying second hand 2080, I will try to hold on my year old dream. I want to build all AMD system next, but they aren't doing any favors regarding that. Current driver support for opencl is not helping or to use Navi cards in Linux you need kernel 5.3 or newer. Regarding RTX cards, I think ray tracing on Linux might not be the thing at the moment.

Nah that's just the Expedition in general for any place with salt of any kind, I rarely see the older ones likely due to it, the ones I do see should be scrapped. Doesn't look like a Ford on the angle you took the picture tho.

Yeah. Though I'm having a tough time keeping everything folding. Every time I look away I have like 2-3 GPUs sitting there waiting for a WU to download. Fresh installed the most problematic one and it hasn't happened since, so we'll see if I get a full day of folding from all rigs.

That is a known issue with a server at Temple U. I've been posting logs on foldingform and so far today, knock on wood, I haven't had to restart a rig yet. I lost 30% of my output yesterday, was up late getting the initial stats loaded the night before and went to bed at 5am and when I woke up at noon 3 of my slots had stopped at 05:05.

Usually a reboot or deleting the slot then recreating it will nuke the failed download but some people have reported rebooting their home router has fixed it but I don't see that as likely.

Yeah. Reboots solved it for me, but the problem that made be nuke the OS was Boinc keeping the OS from rebooting, then refusing to uninstall lol. I started to troubleshoot it, but was like eh.. takes 5 mins to wipe the OS.

Does anyone know what the performance difference is for x1, x4, x8 and x16 lanes? I know that on x1(usually with PCIe Risers) it is not worth folding, but what about x8 and x4? I plan on building folding rig(s) but I do not know if I should go for few systems or one high-end system with 3-4 GPU's. Does anyone have a perfect solution for me?

Also, I'd like to know what you guys(@catawalks, @Cbwgoose, @miker07, @GOTSpectrum, @Den-Fi, @Gorgon) are using(full setups: GPU/Mobo/CPU).

I'd use it for folding since I have a few PCIe slots and lanes open but I do not think it is worth for you to send it to Serbia. ?

Whoops, I missed this post. My setup is kinda all over the place. I'm just using hardware I have laying around. It's a few different systems that I threw together out of spare parts to fold. I'm only using the GPUs to fold though, the CPU ppd isn't worth the power draw to me.

System 1: Titan V, i7-7700k

System 2: Titan RTX, i7-8700(non-k)

System 3: Titan X, Ryzen 5 1600

System 4: 2x Titan Z, i7-6700k

System 5: 1060 6gb, i3-3250

System 6: Quadro P2000, i5-8400

I could probably throw together a couple more systems or optimize what I have, but I haven't felt like putting in the effort for another 1-2m ppd.
