Should I buy this monitor with my current setup?

RGProductions

Short and simple. This https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-27-lcd-qhd-space-monitor-black/6321304.p?skuId=6321304 monitor is $230 open box with a $50 gift card so real price of $200 or so after tax. 1440p144hz VA panel, and it will apparently be getting freesync in September, but who knows if that will materialize. I've already checked and the interesting design will work well with my setup. Should I buy it, considering my rig's specs? It's a 1070 and a 1300x that will soon become a 3600.

I've move from 1080p 60z to 1440p 144hz with my gtx 1070 and gotta say its the best feeling ever

Been using it for a year now... its smooth, most games gotta put you know shadow to medium couple things like that and you're good, if you want full 144 fps in competitive fps or else you know you just go to whatever low settings you need to obtain it

still many games run full ultra too

I tend to see it that way :

Monitor last ~10 years

CPU ~5-7 years

GPU 3-5 years

CPU: Intel i7 6700K 4.5 ghz / CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 / Board: Asus Z170-A / GPU: Asus Rog Strix GTX 1070 8GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000 mhz / SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB / PSU: Corsair RMx 850w / Case: Fractal Design Define S / Keyboard: Corsair MX Silent / Mouse: Logitech G403 / Monitor: Dell 27" TN 1ms 1440p/144hz Gsync

That's pretty much all I needed to hear. Hopefully it's still a deal tomorrow when I'll be ordering it, but I'm ready for something above 1080p60

4ms is kinda gross, but otherwise I don't see any real issues with it. Looks good overall if you're fine with open box.

Yeah, having had some time on a 1ms monitor and a 5ms monitor, I really honestly cannot tell the difference, and either way my current monitor is 4ms so at least it sint a downgrade. If there are any issues with it I'm confident in best buy's return policy.

If you can't tell the difference, then it's fine. Honestly that was just my opinion slipping in since I can notice higher response times generally.

Maybe my god-awful 300ms reaction time is part of it.

I would go for an IPS panel, nothing else in our days!

Point me to a high refresh 1440p IPS monitor for <$100 more than that, and I’ll go for that

For that price it’s a steal, it’s big, 1440p and 144hz va panel. I’d go for it

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x

Be quiet 500dx

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440

For that price I think it's a pretty easy choice to make, especially since it's probably a pretty nice VA panel.

I can't wait to join the 144hz crowd...the new CoD game has decided the date I need my new PC by.

Going from 1080p 60hz to 1080p 144hz was a huge change for me, only thing I can compare it to is going from mechanical hard drive to a SSD. It really is that big of a difference. I looked at 1440p monitors but didn't want to have to sink a ton of cash into a video card to max out games and stay close to 144 fps, that's why i stuck with 1080p. If you have the money go for it
