It is too easy today for troubled youth to surround themselves with a culture that celebrates violence. We must stop or substantially reduce this and it has to begin immediately."...

 

So ... this is going to be interesting. Just as reports say that there is no link between games and real life violence, he comes up with this.

On one side there are people that make fun of other people because they play video games and video games are just for kids 

 

Then you have people that claim that video games are dangerous and make people violent.

Common scapegoat as society would rather blame something, ANYTHING else then hold any kind of personal responsibility for their actions. Top 3 things contributing to violent ppl: Poor mental health support, Bad parenting/upbringing, Social media.

yeah but gen x , millenials , and gen Y all grew up and still play violent games. This would only win over baby boomers which are now a minority vote as theres not nearly as many of them.

Why do I want to jump on a table and scream every time Trump comes out with some knee jerk reaction guff. It is not computer games that kill, it is the free availability of automatic weapons, or any weapon. Appease the NRA by blaming someone else, forget the people as long as it wins votes.

The amount of people who fit from Gen X and before made up the vast majority of voters in 2018 (https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2019/04/behind-2018-united-states-midterm-election-turnout.html)

Also Gen X includes people from the mid 60s to early 80s. So while most of them may have played violent video games, most of them certainly didn't have the opportunity to "grow up" with them like Gen Y did.

 

EDIT: I should point out this chart shows the percentage of each category who voted. You'll need a population pyramid like https://www.populationpyramid.net/united-states-of-america/2017/ to get the actual numbers. But otherwise, a majority of the voting population and those who voted still fall within Gen X or prior.
