Intel Core I5 9400F not showing cores

Ok, so the issue is likely in windows then. Type msconfig in windows start menu, then press enter to bring up system configuration. Go to the "Boot" tab and click the "Advanced Options" button. Make sure everything is unchecked in the window that pops up. Then click OK/Apply where necessary and reboot.

Hi, 

I have recently upgraded my system with a 1660, 8 more g of ram, and a core I5 9400F.
Problem is, even after flashing my PRIME H310M-K (asus compatible motherboard according to their website, even though the box onbly says it's 8th gen compatible), my CPU will show up as 4 cores 4 threads (istead of 6)

Which BIOS version are you on right now? If you use HWinfo64 it should show exactly which number you're on.

Desktop:     Core i7-9700K @ 5.1GHz all-core = ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate = 16GB HyperX Predator DDR4 @ 3600MHz = Asus ROG Strix 3060ti (non LHR) = Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD = ASUS PG279Q

Ok, yeah that BIOS should be validated for this CPU. I would make sure to set all BIOS settings to default for now until this issue is resolved. If the issue persists after that, you may need to try reseating the CPU.

How do you reset a CPU ?

Reseat, as in: take it out, inspect the pins and put it back in. :)

Perhaps also a good idea to reset CMOS. To do that, short these 2 pins with a screwdriver when the power is off:

This will clear the BIOS memory

Should I also remove the CmOS battery for a few minuts ?

Did everything, but it still wont detect the 6 cores into windows even though the BIOS detects the cores... Maybe it is because I have 2300HZ memory ?
