Very late to the game - on the very cheap advice for attending from San Diego,CA

Hello all,

Due to a TMI story, I still have my ticket to LTX but currently no place to stay or decent way there. I know the obvious, "what are you?!? An idiot?!?" But I really don't want to give up my ticket. I've followed LTT for a few years and would really like to meet everyone. I've check flights but it's still super expansive, about 350 round trip and place to stay about the same or double. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S.  I already have Thursday- Monday off.

Honestly if you are feeling froggy just go on a bender and don't sleep. I can imagine a lot of the BYOC guys (including myself) will be there all night. I think in BYOC they said you can lay your head down on your desk but you can't lay down anywhere to sleep.

Looks like you can get hostel dorm rooms for about USD26 for ones further out from the city centre and up per night or I can see one for about USD42 per night in a 4 bed dorm pretty much in downtown Vancouver. I haven't particularly looked if any of them are in super sketchy areas (some possibly are) as I'm not going. There are some that would definitely be cheaper to stay in than 350+ if you are only staying a few days, if you have a look on www.hostelworld.com or a similar site. The one below seems to be pretty central and has ok ratings from the look of it. You're unlikely to get any cheaper prices than you have found for flights though. You could always looks at prices for flights to Sea-Tac & then bus or something up to Vancouver, but I suspect that will be similar or even more than just flying straight in to Vancouver to be honest.

Samesun Hostel might have some spots. If you can find a way there.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I just couldn't get a way there. As I said before it's a TMI story but I can try again next year. I hope everyone has a good time.
