So my sibling accidentally dropped his phone into a sink full of water

I'm honestly not sure how it happened exactly but all I know that he was able to take it out immediately after dropping it into the sink of full of water (just fresh tap water & nothing else). The phone still worked but he immediately turned it off to reduce further damage (good choice). He already has wiped the phone clean with a towel but is afraid that there is still some water left in the inside of the phone. I have recommended him to put it into a bag of rice but he refused since he doesn't want any rice getting stuck in the charger port and headphone jack. He thinks that putting it in a fairly warm room and letting the phone sit there will allow it to dry off completely, will that work? If not, is there any other solutions you guys have?

Considering that he doesn't want to get any rice stuck in the ports, is there any other way?

The phone doesn't have to be submerged in the rice as long as it's in the same container. The whole point is that rice will absorb the moisture from the air, not that it has to be touching the phone.

the fact that rice isnt sticky and with a un uniform shape, its just too easy to get it out.

salt is another good alternative.

So I was planning to put the phone on top of a pile of rice stored in a small plastic container. Would that work? Can i also put the disconnected battery alongside with it?

That phone has a removable battery. remove it and dry the inside the best you/he can, then leave it to sit for at least 48 hours with the battery out and the back removed.

Yup, just make sure the lid is tight and let it sit there for a day or two.

That rice thing is racist. No one will come to fix the phone during the night if you leave it in rice.

I've decided to not put the battery in there since there are no open holes on it, thus making it impossible for water to get inside the battery (I believe)

Any stickers, wrappings and such will have absorbed moisture from the water in the sink. It'd be best to put the battery in there as well.

Looking at the battery again, there seems to be no stickers or wrappings present. But for now, I'm worried only about the phone itself. If the battery ends up dying, I'm pretty sure it isn't too hard to replace it.
