Would it be worth for me to upgrade the GPU now?

GrizzlyMiki

Hey guys, I'm thinking about upgrading my GTX 950 to a 1660 ti, but I'm seeing that the AMD vs NVIDIA competition has become hotter now, so I don't know if I should wait. What do you guys think? Are we going to get better deals soon? Or is this a good time to buy a GPU?

AMD just lowered there price again, and Supers just came out, give it a month and prices for both will go down a bit more.

The rest of the system?

If it's from the GTX 950 era and was in the same price/performance category paired with the 950, there+s a high chance the system isn't powerful enough for a GTX 1660.

The thing is that the GTX 950 is now a big bottleneck for me.

I have:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

GPU: MSI GTX 950 2GB

Motherboard: B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

RAM: Corsair 2x8GB 3200MHz (16-18-18-36)

Power supply: Corsair 650W

go ahead with 1660 or ti,

1660 oc to match 1660ti, pretty perfect for 1080p 60+fps ultra for coming yrs.

although some rumors on rx5600 will be its competitor, but that shall only influence its price, so waiting may be just worth ~$20-30

Go with the 1660Ti. Or save some money and go with an RX 570 8GB (but keep in mind it's a lot weaker than a 1660ti).

About that, I'm not sure if it would be worth for me going for an RX 5700 instead.

I'm from Spain, and with our current prices I have these options:

-MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Gaming X 6G (334'90€)

-GIGABYTE GTX 1660 Ti WindForce OC 6GB DDR6 (311'45€)

-GIGABYTE GTX 1660 Ti GAMING OC 6GB DDR6 (316€)

-MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Ventus XS 6GB GDDR6 (305€)

-PNY GeForce GTX 1660 Ti XLR8 Gaming OC Dual Fan 6GB GDDR6 (295€)

-Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 5700 8GB GDDR6 (380€)

-XFX RX-57XL8MFG6 - AMD Radeon RX 5700 8 GB (380€)

What would you choose?

I'm from Croatia and we have both lower income and higher prices and I do have a weaker CPU than you (albeit not much) and I do plan on replacing my GPU with an RX 5700XT in a few months before my next big vacation.

I have a Ryzen 5 1600X and my GPU is an R9 380X that's only a bit stronger than a GTX 960.

Regular 5700 costs 405€ here. 5700XT 480€

At the end I couldn't wait and I bought the GTX 1660 ti for 316€. Although the Vega 56 was a good option, and the 5700 XT was definitely worth the extra money, I thought NVENC was nice to have for me, since I want to get back to streaming in some months. And the 1660 ti will do just fine until I finish my career and get a good job.

Thanks for the info anyways ^^
