6700k, 7700k or R5 3600+Mobo

Should I buy:

1.  Used 6700k for $240.00

2.  Used 7700k for $305.00

3.  New R5 3600 and B450M board for $309.00

Notes/Problems:

1.  Currently running 7100.  Just bought used 1080ti; so needing more balance.

2.  Can't overclock the inlels with my board; would be going for K just because of higher out of box clocks (also, 6700k used is cheaper than 7700 non k and has higher passmark single and multi; so does r5 3600 obvi)

3.  Dont have a old ryzen to update bios...

4.  My ram is slow 2400 or 2666

B450 mortar can do BIOS update without a CPU.

Im just not seeing many Mobos I like (Not that any are as bad as mine LOL) I need Micro ATX it's like the OEMs skimped mATX for b450 boards.

I'm looking at the ASRock B450M PRO4

-it has USB type C, 4 Ram slots and 2 M.2 slots

There's a B450M Bazooka V2 for 6 bucks more and it doesn't have either of those features.

Which kinda sucks because I like MSI by current board and old and new GPU are all MSI

This is a tough one because your ram speed is pretty slow for a ryzen build. Do think you could off the old stuff your using and get new ram at the same time?

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x

Be quiet 500dx

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440

Xbox series x

I guess... I want to go from 16 up to 32 anyway.  But, I just spent 500 on graphics card and 450 on monitor, keyboard and power supply.  So, I'm trying to be as wallet friendly as possible.

I would go 3600 and b450 mobo.

If you don't get a board that can do bios flashback (i.e., like the MSI b450 tomahawk or pro carbon), AMD will actually send you a cpu to use, change your bios, and they will even pay for the return shipping

Your ram is slow, but you can get a cheap 16 gig ddr4 3200 CL16 kit in the near future when you can afford it

Ryzen 3700x w/ Arctic Cooling 34 eSports DUO || MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC || GSkill DDR4 3200 CL14 @ 3600 16-16-16 || EVGA 2070 XC Gaming || WD Black 1T NVME, WD Black 2T 7200 rpm || EVGA SuperNova 750 G1+
