Should I purchase the x470 Taichi ($160) or x570 Asus Prime ($165) for my R7 3700x?

Besides needing to update the Taichi to support Zen 2 it offers better VRM then the x570 Asus Prime but it's still good enough.

Personally I would get the X570 maybe you can increase your budget by 35$ and get the Asus TUF instead?

I found it in stock at Bestbuy

Well if you want the best VRM right now it is going to be Gigabyte Aorus series.  ASUS is not bad and AsRock is solid company.  Im just looking at my experiences with ASUS since the 90's til know, I have never had a motherboard fail on me so I will always be ASUS guy.

Yea, looks like that. Taichi offers way better design, VRM, and features.

The only thing missing would be the PCIe 4, but only useful if you have fast storage needs.

How much better is it? Would that only matter if I was overclocking or had a 3900x?

Asus has failed me in many ways in the past and even if one looks up their updates for Zen 2 on older boards they seem to be a bit lacking compared to MSI and Asrock.

I typically see MSI and Asrock offer the best for the money. MSI lately has really been killing it lately don't take my word for it i'm strictly talking in favor of bullzoid.

Oh I totally agree ASUS has the worst support ever in the history of this world.  They dont update drivers.  Matter of fact they lack drivers for say their audiophile line.  Don't expect anything positive except the fact their RMA is good.  They send you a sealed product, they don't fix whats broken ya know.

As far as VRMs.... I know the 9900k loves Gigabyte ,,, But Im sure you can still get to 5Ghz desired speed and no issues.  ASUS wont give you issues so long as BIOS is updated and what not.  As for AMD,  ASUS uses military grade sh*T so its high quality and what not.  You can abuse the motherboard and it will never fail on you.  I remember my old ASUS P2B SCSI 4GB Cheetah lol.  The P5K didn't give me any issues and overclocked like a champ.

I bought a Gigabyte video card and the fans are busted and make a huff puff loud noise unless I raise the rpm then that goes away.  It is chugging and huffing nasty sound.  Things like this have never happened to me and ASUS mobo and EVGA cards.  So we called Gigabyte which is located here in Pasadena and you have to send them your broken card then they fix the broken card and ship it back to you and turn around time can be 2 weeks or so.  Very dissapointing that fresh out of the box it is like this on my first Gigabyte experience.  So I don't like them, I wish I could trade my card for a EVGA.  I have been living with this fans issue cuz I can sit here for weeks without a system ya know.

It's simple, buy the cheappest. The taichi has 12+4 phases (6x2+2x2) that are more than enough for ANY cpu in the AM4 platform. About PCI-E 4.0, there is no need for it in gaming or normal workloads.

Between X470 and X570, the performance difference is zero. The only issue you might have is that you'll need another cpu to ugrade your Taichi bios to be able to put a Zen 2 processor in it.

All high end X470 (ASRock Taichi, Gigabyte Gaming 7 WiFi, Asus Crosshair VII WiFi) motherboards have VRMs more than capable to run ANY cpu.

If you have another ryzen cpu to upgrade the BIOS, get the cheappest of the ones I told you before and you'll be fine with 3xxx.

Good luck.
