GTX 1080 Flickering HELP

Once I uninstall the driver through safe mode using display driver UnInstaller and with my Internet unplugged(So it does not nVidia install driver via windows update), The screen stops flickering but then I don’t have audio via HDMI due to the fact I don’t have drivers installed. Every time I download the new driver the flickering starts.  I don’t understand what’s happening I have never had this problem till i did the Reset the PC via Recovery, Because something happened to my PC and it started deleting all my icons and stuff in my start menu.

So I went into my settings and turned off device updates so windows doesn’t installed updates for my devices it’s still installing nVidia drivers every time I plug in my ethernet, And causing flickering in artifacting .... anyone??

No one knows how to help with is? Should I just install a clean windows 10?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Use another connection and pci slot.

I thought is more likely a software or  a driver issue, Ill do clean windows 10 installed tomorrow and see if this still happens. I also linked gigabyte support to this thead To see if they can help me too I’m really hoping it’s just my windows 10.

 

I googled about this problem and all I see everyone fixing this by using DDU and reinstalling drivers.

That 100% sounds like a hardware fault with your 1080.

I've seen this once before and when you unplug the display port cable from the graphics card and plug it back in it stops till you reboot windows.

 

was a driver issue for me but a long time ago.

So yesterday I got a little bit mad and I said screw it let me stress test the GPU so I opened up AIDA64  and unchecked all the boxes(CPU,FPU,etc) and checked only the GPU, a dialogue popped up I forgot what it said I should’ve taken a picture of it but it said “the cards timeout value is very low would you like AIDA64 to fix it I said yes and the flickering went away.”  

 

I will try and install a new driver today and see if the flickering has stopped completely right now my computer is using some older drivers the windows loaded by self I think it’s 388.xx.

Nope I thought I did fix it for one day and the next day it started again I’m about to install a clean windows 10 right now

So I reinstalled a clean windows 10 and I haven’t seen it flicker yet but I’m running a couple movies to heat up the graphic card and Hope it doesn’t flicker anymore.  Also I’ll run a couple 3-D Mark test in 3 hrs.

Is it normal for 3-D mark to flicker once in between test like after each little test is done ? Below is a video? @Maticks

mine doesnt flicker it switched back to the desktop and loads the next one.

 

What monitor do you have, it might have something to do with resolution switching or gsync with resolution switching.

I know that it will switch from the res in 3D Mark back to the desktop res then back to 3D Mark.

I see a few articles when i google for gsync and flickering being Asus monitors.

I don’t have a gaming monitor or use my TV which is a Vizio D50-F1 It’s a 4K TV but I set my resolution to 1080 x 1920 @60hz, So far I’ve ran 2 test via 3Dmark Time Spy Extreme 4K and  Time Spy dx12 and passed with no problem and I’ve been running my computer on Netflix continuously And still no flickering so I’m hoping it’s gone and it must have been a bad windows 10 install  because I did have a  oproblems with the last windows 10 that I had installed before this clean windows 10 install  I did today.

So yeah I went back and checked on it as back to flickering again every like 10 to 15 seconds so I guess it hardware issue I have only had it for like eight months and  I’ve used it for a total of three months.  It seems to happen after two or three hours.  Gpu temps are @ 40c with video playback and idles at 38c.

have you got another TV in the house maybe try plug it in there or monitor. see if its the graphics card, tv or HDMI cable.

So I tried a different graphic card, Before I did that I went into safe mode and use DDU And hit the uninstall and shut down for new GPU,  then put in my GT 710 and when it boot it, it goes to the windows 10 screen with that little circle going around then when it is supposed to go to the login screen my screen just goes blank with that card I know it’s a working card and I’ve tried both PCI slots same thing.   But when I put my GTX 1080 back into it everything loads up perfectly and there’s no blank screens.  So I was thinking maybe it’s the motherboard.  

I tried the other PCI slot below the x16 I think the x8  And I still see the flickering with the GTX 1080, I just installed an older driver from last month and I left my computer on to see if it flickers after a period was if time.

 

What I don’t get is why I didn’t take my GT710  graphic card why It goes to a blank screen after the windows loading screen.

 

I’m just totally confused

If it starts flickering again I will try a different TV or monitor and different HDMI.

So when I started up the computer today it started flickering again so I switched HDMI cables in the flickering stopped on one cable and the other cable it flickers. Hopefully this was the problem such a simple problem like it said I see if the computer flickers anyway hopefully not ill test it for another 2 to 3 days.
