1080 ti VS 2070 super

Abnormalia

Does it make sense to switch? Performance gap is small now. Do you think it will get bigger in future? Ray trace still have long way ahead to mature. Is there anything I am missing?

Dont really see any reason to buy an rtx card as an upgrade from a 1080ti unless you are going for a 2080ti. RTX support is lame atm so I would definitely wait.

The 1080ti has more potential for higher performance in the future then the 2070 super.

https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3486-nvidia-rtx-2060-super-and-2070-super-review-benchmarks

Check the benchmarks there. EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 vs RTX 2070 Super (Stock). Not going to summarise the entire results, but depending on the game and settings it seems the RTX2070 Super at best matches the 1080Ti, with in some games/resolutions the GTX1080Ti outperforming the RTX2070 Super by as much as 15%. Which makes sense since the RTX2080 was roughly equal to the GTX1080Ti and the RTX2070 Super is a slightly cut down RTX2080.

There's no noticeable performance benefit to gain from switching from a 1080Ti to 2070 Super. Only thing you gain would be improved raytracing performance which is IMO quite pointless right now.

If your GTX1080Ti isn't able to give you the performance you require, switching to the RTX2070 Super isn't going to solve the problem.

RTX cards are quite buggy (non-Supers as of now, until further testing) and there's not really goin to be an upgrade in performance due to the high lvl of the GTX 1080 TI.  Wait 2-4 generations prior to upgradin such top end parts.
