Will ryzen 3 1200 work on b450 mobo

No, only reason you have to update a motherboard to work with a CPU that's compatible is if it's newer than the motherboard, the B450 and X470 boards have backwards compatibility with 1st gen Ryzen CPUs. If you wanted to use a Ryzen 2000 CPU with a B350 or X370 then you would have to update, same with the new Ryzen 3000 CPUs with B450 and X470.

nope. no need to update.

the newer BIOS OS can work with older Ryzen CPUs....

although you sure about using R3 1200 at this point?

 

I would understand if it's R5 1600.

The only reason I am going to use a ryzen 1200 is I found one for 35 usd and a b450 mobo that comes with 8gb of ram for 120 usd

So what I’m understanding is if I get a B450 Tomahawk it will work with a Ryzen 7 2700x right out of the box?
