interesting, but maybe its because its not the 7th yet?

Gamesystem: X3700, 32GB memory @3200mhz, GTX1080 Hybrid

Unraid system: Epyc 7352, 24/48, 96GB ECC buffered @2666mhz, 2x GT710, GTX1050Ti

Yea.. Just bad! But I learned something 2600x has a max of 95c compared to 2700x with only 85c.. :)

So in theory, less headroom for overclocking.

Seeing the overclock potential of the previous generations are rather slim (compared to intel), i don't really see that as a bad thing. Meaning . . . from AMD you get near max performance out of the box, while with Intel they make you sort of void their warranty if you want to get max performance. Not to mention the premium you need to pay for additional components to achieve steady and wortwhile overclocks.

I don't really worry about max temps, since your cooler (assuming it has enough Watts in heat dissipation) it would never reach 80C, 75C seems reasonable, but I take OD of salt because I don't really mind those.

I'm greatly above potato, but I'm getting there...

Midrange Potato LVL 60:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 with Snowman MT-6 Dual Fans (CPU @ 3.8 GHz - 4.375 GHz to 4.5 GHz @ 1.1V - 1.35V),

MOBO: MSI B550-A Pro
GPU: Asrock RX 5600 XT Phantom Gaming D3 (1820MHz core @930mV)

RAM: TeamGroup T-Force Delta DDR4 Gaming 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz 16-17-17-37-58 @ 1.35V,

HARD DRIVE: WD 1TB Blue
SSD: Toshiba XG5 Series NVMe 512GB (KXG50GVN512G) & Crucial MX500 1TB

CASE: DeepCool Kendomen Titanium case
PSU: Corsair RM-750 (2019) 80+ Gold

Display: Asus VP249QGR via HDMI (144Hz)

Keyboard: Generic PS/2 Keyboard

Mouse: Generic Honeycomb 250Hz Mouse
Speakers: Generic Headset

And yes, there are now fans. 5 Arctic P12 PST's

Yes thats right, but I would prefer a higher max temp anyways. I fear that the 3000 series will be 85C or less.

Lets just hope, those CPUs won't be as toasty as Intel ones. 7nm compared to 12nm should mean less heat, but then again, they increased clock speed and core count, so I'm really wondering what temps will look like on stock, and OC headroom we can expect from decent coolers like Dark Rock 4 Pro.

Intel i7 12700K | Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 | Pure Loop 240mm | G.Skill 3200MHz 32GB CL14 | CM V850 G2 | RTX 3070 Phoenix | Lian Li O11 Air mini

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

i hope the same, as it would extend the lifetime of my planned upgrade. But it is looking bad in that regard.

Yea... I'm kinda Intel biased. But I may go for a 3900x - should get good clocks when using 8 or less cores (hopefully)

3900x was the 12 core with 70mb cache right? i'm betting they will have a better IPC too when you disable 4 cores on the first die. 32 cache per 4 cores beats having 32 per 8.

Exactly! But it should be able to this on its own, like if I play CSGO i get ~ 4100mhz on 4 cores on stock on 2700x

Maybe Ryzen master will support profiles like these. Who knows!

PBO should just be a little more intelligent, then intel will crab in their pants lol
