Put Together All The Old Stuff

GMart84

Okay so maybe it isn’t ancient but it is definitely older than some and it held its own in Fortnite and CSGO at 1080P.

It is a screaming (literally) system.  Fans like being up in the 1400-1500 range to keep the temps in check.

Intel Core i7 2700K (@ 4.7Ghz)

16 GB of G.Skill Ripjaws (@ 1866Mhz)

Asus Z77 Sabertooth

40GB SSD Boot Drive

380GB of Spinning Storage

XFX RX580 GTS Black Edition

Thermaltake Smart 600W

Corsair 100R

CoolerMaster ML120 Lite

5x Thermaltake Ring Fans White

Corsair Lighting Node Pro w/custom 24 LED Strip

90 FPS average at epic and far settings in Fortnite and about the same in CSGO.

I loved pushing this system as it brought back memories.

Now working on a 3D Printed Vertical GPU Mount for this thing, all just for fun.

Does anyone have a recommendation for something else I can do to this to make it look better?

That single fan AIO isn't doing jack for your 2700K if you're overclocking.

I'd remove your drive cage to free up some airflow, or grab a case with a better design. (Unobstructed airflow, PSU/Drive cage, 240mm AIO support, etc.)

Sexy Black = Better performance, quieter, and sexy:

This case comes with 1 intake and 1 exhaust. They are offering a free case fan with the purchase, but it's quite loud. I would grab an extra fan to match the decent one in the case (much lower DBA than the $6 freebie they are throwing in.):

Ultimately swapping that single radiator AIO is going to free up a good exhaust slot in the rear. Upgrading to a case with unobstructed airflow will provide a better intake, and swapping out to the very efficient/powerful/quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 with the sexy Meshify C case will get air moving very nicely through the build, thus the fans won't need to work so hard. That XFX GPU cooler is pretty decent, so it shouldn't be an issue if you're not choking it out.

Note: PCPartpicker showed most of these items unavailable despite easily finding them on newegg... Unsure what's up with that.

@trevb0t Thank you for all of the suggestions they all make sense.  I will admit that with more playing with it and manually setting fan curves I got it to quiet down quite a bit.

Temps under full synthetic load are currently CPU 70-78C it bounces into the 80s every once in a while but not much.  The GPU with a custom fan curve makes the most noise in the system now keeping the GPU cool and it hits about the same temperature as the CPU but is rather steady at load only fluctuating by a couple degrees away from the 78 C.

The fan setup is currently very positive pressure with four of the fans pulling in and only one exhaust through the radiator.  That case does choke off the front fans so the 2 120s on the top are also intake.

I am playing with the orientation of the Radiator now as the vertical GPU mount I printed works but the card hits the bottom of the radiator slightly.  I will look for a cheap 240 AIO as it would allow even lower fan speed in the system.  In all honesty this system will likely be sold off at a garage sale so it is all for fun at this point.

How accurate is Aida64 at temperatures? The system above with the fans at 1200 RPM, about 50 dba of noise (yes loud but not over bearing) resulted in the following stability test, yes it is only 10 minutes but I thought the small AIO would have become saturated at that point.

The cores vary but the CPU is reading 45 which cannot be right, should I assume that whatever the hottest core is, is the CPU temperature?

I would skip the AIO altogether. Check out the Freezer 34 Esports Duo cooler as a $40 very viable dual tower air cooler... If the case is wide enough. If not the Esports ONE or a Hyper212 Black Edition RGB is like $35. (And rgb.)

Frankly if someone is pawning off a stock AMD cooler, they are cheap and pretty comparable to a 212.

If you can remove the drive cage, you'd be solid with that case. That was very strange design lol. That's super positive. I'd almost go 3 in 2 out and push some out the top. (Since your CPU heat is rising, it makes sense to vent it straight out.)

Even if you sit in the 80s at load, it's not the end of the world.
