Top spec mac mini VS i7 8700

I am using a i7 8700 machine with 16GB of RAM.

 

I am wondering, if I get the top spec mac mini, ( 6 core i7 ) https://www.apple.com/sg/shop/buy-mac/mac-mini/3.0ghz-6-core-processor-with-turbo-boost-up-to-4.1ghz-256gb# 

 

how much faster / slower is the CPU.

 

I don't care about the GPU I do not play games. And will upgrade the RAM to 16GB later down the road myself. 

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

It's an i7-8700B, so if I were to guess it's slightly worse than your machine. I think LTT's video has specific benchmarks comparing it but I don't remember for certain.

Roughly the same at base clock. The 8700B is just a BGA socket variant of the 8700.

 

The mini won't support turbo clocks for long though, thermal limitation.

do you guys think that it will have problem streaming content on twitch.tv? not gaming, programming. 

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

It shouldn't. Depends on the software though.

i use it to do web development, I have a macbook pro 2018, but it is a bit slow for my workflow.

also im a mac mini fanboy ?

Downgrade. He would be downgrading. TB3's overhead decreases the performance of whatever GPU one uses.

 

My 580 gets hit by 50% on my mini, compared to my 5930K machine.

When you don't read, you answer like this. OP isn't interested about GPU performance. Making it still sidegrade, not downgrade.
