I just noticed that you have to disconnect everything from the back of the Mac Pro to open the case.

And? How often do you think the end users of these machines need in there?

Yes, because if you are working on the internals of the machine, you should never have system plugged in. Do you put GPUs or PCIe cards in your system while leaving it plugged in/on?

I have have to unplug everything from my rig just to take it out of its cubby built into my desk. It’s standard procedure when working with ANY PC.

During benches, I left my USB and ethernet plugged in when swapping between an RX 470 and 580.

Ok, but you acknowledge that you must unplug the vast majority of everything from your system just to service it. The Mac Pro is really no different.

It’s expensive because it’s designed for those who need this level of performance. Not people who casually browse the LTT forum as if they understand the Professional market.

False. One cable "external" to the system. Everything else remains plugged in, PSU turned off.

In a bench where you aren’t moving it. That’s not how real people use their PCs.

They take them from where they work and go to a workbench which is usually farther away from their workspace than the length of a USB cable.

Stop hating the Mac Pro just because it’s an Apple product. You’re being irrational.

This forum is never satisfied. What do you think LTT goes through when upgrading their editing workstations? It’s a large operation and is extremely similar to upgrading the new Mac Pro.

Again, this whole thread is irrational.

Yes. The low end models really don’t make sense. You would be better off with the iMac Pro. The Mac Pro only makes sense in the middle to high end configs.

Not even remotely uncommon for IT to work on a system where it is. Prior to running my system on a wetbench, it was in a 780T. Nothing changed in regards to working on it.

In case you haven't noticed, every single thread regarding the Mac Pro I've been in, I've said wait until the fucking thing comes out. I've also said multiple times that:

  1. This is an enterprise product. It is priced as such, it has features desired by the market.
  2. It stacks up very well against other enterprise products based upon preliminary estimates on what hardware it's using.

You're making assumption here that everyone keeps their computers inside a cabinet.
But nearly every PCs I've ever seen, be it at home or in offices, are either on the floor or on a desk, all easily accessible to be opened for changing parts or for a quick dusting, by cleaning out the fan filters, without unplugging anything.

You also seems to be going above and beyond to try and defend these strange "design" choices from Apple.

Yep. My G5 case mod has a side panel. I still unplug everything because the panel is on the right side of the case and my computer is on the right side of my desk.

This is an incredibly stupid criticism.

Here’s a prime example of people going out of their way to hate anything Apple makes. You can laugh while I enjoy my iPhone XR that’s faster than anything other than the SD 855 and actually gets faster from updates.
