Madrinas Coffe Shipping ??

lewis8485

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone else has attempted to order the LTT madrinas coffe and gone to check out to find what should be around $20 to actually be $82?

Granted this is to the uk but when i asked if this was an issue with the website I was given this as a response.

“Because Madrinas Coffees are ready to drink and conveniently come in our 16 oz cans, they can be kind of heavy, and in the world of shipping, heavy means more money”

Anyone know if there is a way to get this for just a little less!

I can't believe people buy that stuff.  It's a gimmick sponsor. Paying shipping on a 6 pack of coffee?  Go to the local grocery and get what you need.

Vanilla isn't even that good.

They used to sell them very cheap on Amazon.ca ~3$ CAD per can but it seems the distributor stopped ordering them.

I live in the states, and shipping was almost $10.  I just ordered it cause I figured why not, I'll try it.  It's a cool novelty, but I wouldn't order it again.  (is good though)

Can't say I'm surprised. As besides shipping, you will be paying for import taxes and/or duty fees. So shipping is probably around $30-50, and rest is other fees.

I find you pay for shipping and then once you received it, get a letter demanding taxes. So be very careful.

UK's importation TAX is beyond a joke, ends up that your paying more for shipping and TAX then the object your trying to buy, in some cases its actually cheaper to book a flight go buy it in person then fly back home.

Might not be. My gf ordered stuff outside EU from few shops, import taxes weren't covered in any shipping, which was substantial. Mind you none was on Amazon.

I'm live in a country coffee is treated seriously... this kind of canned industrialized low end coffee would never have a place.

You know, Brazil is the world's largest producer of Coffee and this beverage is honored by well "home made" style even on the high end coffee shops, international brands like Starbucks, Costa and so on can't penetrate the market in here since their coffee is garbage in comparison to any bakery at the next corner.

So you're saying this canned stuff is soooo good, that it's worth paying for shipping and a premium just to get it in the USA cuz our coffee is shit?

But we also have hand brewed coffee shops all over.  It's not all chain stuff like Starbucks here.  Maybe I'm lucky but here in Atlanta there are incredible and various authentic ethnic shops all over for anything I could want.

I just think that's a ridiculous concept to ship something basic.  Then again, people order water online.

Besides, the point of a sponsor as well as shipping something you can get locally is to get a better deal on it.  This ain't a better deal.

Okay, I read you as saying coffee is so good in your country that USA companies like Starbucks can't make and that Madrinas was "this beverage that was honored".  Coffee is honored , not Madrinas.

Got it!

Edit: You're right.  I love Brazilian coffees, and Argentinian as well.  I would love to visit South America someday, after Italy.

Edit 2:  I do agree that Starbucks is terrible coffee.  I drink black coffee and I'd rather drink Folgers than Starbucks.

Exactly, Brazil is actually the largest Coffee exporter to USA, meaning in the end everyone drinks the same coffee, the key here is it being made fresh on a good coffee place/bakery, not get something canned that's been made god knows how long ago and stacked with preservatives and what not that travels the entire country under poor stocking conditions ;)

Since you appear to be a coffee connoisseur, if you ever visit the states in the northeast, Wawa will appease your coffee needs :)

(we northeasterners take our coffee just as seriously, so serious we take it too far and then get shit on on Redit ;) )

I would have loved to give Madrinas Coffee a go but I had the same cost of shipping and it is just not worth it for the cost of a cup of coffee when I can go down to my local cafe and get a great coffee for $4.50.

Main Rig: Ryzen 7 2700 | T-Force 32GB 3000mhZ | Corsair Carbide SPEC-06 Case | Corsair H100x AIO | Corsair CX750M PSU | Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super Windforce OC

Storage Server: Lenovo ThinkCentre M73 Mini PC | i3 4130T 2.90Ghz | 4GB SoDIMM | 500GB WD Blue Internal | 6TB Seagate External | 1TB Seagate External | OS: Openmediavault

In the hierarchy of canned "Emergency Coffee" (yes, I've degenerated to the point where I have designated emergency coffee at the ready. Insomniac's Club ftw.), I'd say the new Starbucks Tripleshot coffee to be a right sight (Britich term, right?) better than anything Madrinas I've had.

(From Madrinas), Mocha is a bit more palpable, but the Vanilla can be described as "sickly sweet". Not much depth to the flavor of either as they're both very monotone. The Starbucks Tripleshot, at least, has the sharp zing of espresso to balance out the sweet.

I still prefer brewing my own, though it is definitely nice to have a can in the bag for those wretchedly long days. My opinion though, OP is missing nothing whatsoever by forgoing the Madrinas brand in favor of something more accessible.

My eyes see the past…
