Ryzen 2600 or wait for Ryzen 3000 to release?

At first glance, the answer is obviously to go with the 3600 when it comes out, but it seems to be worse value than the 2600. 2600 is around 20% slower after factoring the clock speed and 15% IPC difference, but the price difference is around 35%. The 2600 sells for 200 CAD but the 3600 has an MSRP of 200 USD (270 CAD). It will take months after release for Ryzen 3000 to go to competitive prices.

What do you want to do with either chip? I run the 2600 and haven't had the need for more power when doing anything other than encoding video. But then again, you never have enough power when encoding video.

You'll probably be able to get the R5 3600 on a killer deal from a Newegg bundle when it comes out. Barring that you could get the 2600 from a Newegg bundle. Wait.

Well my i5 is decent for gaming, but it’s really not good when doing stuff like playing Apex and watching the NBA playoffs on my other monitor or multitasking with a lot of programs.

The bundles are generally not great because they include way overkill, very expensive boards.

You have a 1150 board. I know you're Chinese. Get a relative to import one of these from Taobao:

The previous set of deals was with boards such as the B450M Pro4, and B450 Tomahawk. I wouldn't exactly call those overkill boards, nor would I call them shitty ones.

Well I’m planning to build a new system and put my GTX 1660 into it.

 

Thats good, all the bundles I see on Canada Computers it Memory Express don’t make sense or are similar prices to just buying separately.

Consider a R5 1600 used, you can often find them for like $130 CAD

My 2700 is great CPU, zero issues! As the ship dates for the Gen3s gets closer could see a price drops on the current Gen2s and as the MOB will be fully supported for the for the for see able future you can upgraded CPUs as the price point drops even more going forward.
