Steve Burke over at Gamers Nexus comes to mind immediately. He just put out a video earlier today talking about MSI’s VRM designs for 16 core CPUs.

AMD probably cuts all the unnecessary features to aim for the very best price / performance ratio on multi-core

But the support for PCIe 4.0 and that low TDP probably surprises everyone

I take processor rated TDP with grain of salt though, maybe similar case like 2600 vs 2600x.

MSI might be overspecing in anticipation for AMD to pull a (less retarded) 7980XE scenario. Alternatively, AMD might not be planning to release a 3000 series 16c now, but are not going to commit to not releasing a 16c part on AM4.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

GamersNexus has said they've had it confirmed that there will be a 16 core sku for a long time now.  And they've repeated that in their recent videos.

I'm surprised that she hasn't confirmed whether PCIe 4.0 would be available on the current Ryzen motherboards. Any chance that we can find Ryzen 3 motherboards before the actual release of the processors? My motherboard died so it would be great to replace it with one of them

What I found to be an absolute stupid comparison was that Cinebench R20 run with an 8c/8t CPU against a 8c/16t CPU.  That actually made me a little angry.  And has anyone shown what that score was at the end?

We'll see if that 16c/32t part comes to fruition. The board could just be very overbuilt for what it's worth.

Frankly I do wanna eat crow and see a 16 core part: I'll legitimately buy that shit and put it to use, but for now, it's not confirmed yet.

I believe the Crosshair VII will have it.

Ryzen 5 also isn’t confirmed yet but we’ve got plenty of reasons to think that’s happening, too.

Edit: Ryzen 5 wasn’t in the keynote but was confirmed in a press release.

The current motherboards (b450, x470 and maybe x370) will have pcie 4.0 only in the pcie slots connected straight to the cpu, so the top pcie 16x slot.

That 12 core 24 thread for half the price and at 60W less TDP... That's amazing. Cannot wait for independent bench marks. That IPC increase is also fantastic.

16 cores is definitely coming. The 3700x is a single CCX module, the AM4 CPUs have up to two CCX modules. What's 8x2? Also, When Adored gloating video? xD

Really looking forward to Adored explaining why he wasn’t totally wrong, just mostly wrong on 12 core Ryzen 7 etc.

Think they were comparing price points there, i was confused too and then they did the comparison between 3800x and 9900k which im sure the 3700x performs similarly to the 3800x

They didn'y talk abou that in the presentation, but it is up to the mobo manufacturers. Some have already received the support for the top pcie slot with BIOS update.

Well considering the age of leaks, it seems perfectly reasonable that some stuff would change. Also, on a side note I find it beautiful how AMD is the one sandbagging now.

Anandtech (emphasis added):

For the Ryzen 7 lineup, AMD is keeping this for the 8-core versions. These CPUs only have a single chiplet inside, and no dummy chiplet. Of the two CPUs in this segment, the one that gets a big shock from us is actually the cheaper model.

So is it game over for Intel?

They have lost their last advantage and that's the IPC. I bet we are going to see some rushed panic launches in the near future.

I really hope AMD is saving their 16c monster for when Intel tries to respond, only to further humiliate them.
