Can't configure router to work as access point.

HunterSailor

My primary router is a Dlink DIR605L. I have an old Dlink DIR615 that I want to use as an access point. When I connect the 615 to my desktop and connect to the router's Ip address, it opens the setup wizard (most likely I had reset the router), whenever I click on Advanced Network Settings to disable DHCP Server it jumps back to the setup wizard page.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I will appreciate any help.

Try a different browser? D-Link has fricking terrible firmware, those guys just don't know how to code anything properly, so it could just be that it works correctly in only one browser. Try IE, Edge, Chrome and Firefox.

I tried a different browser but it's the same thing every time.

Keep it simple.

Do the setup and then change the settings

If I do the setup and try to log in to the router to change the settings...it says 'invalid password'.

Keep it simple.

Did you set a password?

D-Link products don’t have a password by default just click login

Hi,

you have two routers DIR-615 with same default IP address which is 192.168.0.1

So, first thing switch off your main router dir-615

then do hard reset for the other device you want to configure as accesspoint

connect it to your laptop (using RJ-45 cable) open IE and type in address bar 192.168.0.1

you have to login now using username admin and no password.

please try these steps and if you have other questions let me know :) Thank you.
