Seagate Barracuda 4TB but 5400RPM

Backup yes, but gaming no. It doesn't matter the brand or space 5400 rpm hdds will be kinda slow compared to 7200.

It will do backups fine.

 

Gaming, yeah sure stuff will run but will also take a long time to load.

Faster spinners (more RPM) will generally yield better loading times. But might be louder. Compared to an SSD of some sort it is a snail though.

65$ sounds good though. Used I guess? I would never buy a used drive, but that's just me.

Also you are on pc ,it takes longer to games to load (i tested my ps4 vs my backup hdd before you reply, i own a pc with an 5400 rpm hdd and a ps4, that runs with a 5400rpm hdd and tested myself)

if he search on youtube pc or console load times he might don't know the difference and get frustrated (or happy) ,in theory should be the same speed but it isn't

I dont knos because the slow speed..

maybe dont buy?

I am sorry okay. He is planning to buy a 5400 rpm hdd for gamming i am acting to inform him that it isn't a good idea and if he think it is a good idea it might be because he saw the wrong information or was lured. That is it, i am not trying to look smart or anything i am just trying to help.

5400RPM drives are good for storage, good for power consumption, and good for longevity... not great for performance.

 

If you want to store game files on a drive, consider a standard desktop class 7200RPM drive.
