Did older Samsung devices ruin the "normie" reputation of Android as a whole.

I've noticed this.

Normal People (iPhone users, that just buy whatever is new) always knock Samsung phones for the Note 7 bombs, touchwiz, Micro USB, ETC.

But now Samsungs phones have reached a point that they are some of the best smartphones in general.

Despite this and the fact that Samsung represents android in most people's eyes, certain Android phones cant sell.

The pixel 3 collects dust at most carriers, samsung Galaxy S9s were BOGO for the longest time, etc

Is it just me, or is the reputation of "Android sucks" to far ingrained into people now?

(I use Android btw)

Not really, Samsung's price point is above what one would consider "normie" Android. Of course things like LG bootloops and android viruses are much more common do hurt Android rep, but then bent iPhones and external hubs for almost everything is just as painful to Apple. More so, since premium products are expected to have less problems.

iPhone gates are nothing to apples street cred. They could make a bomb like samsung and no one would care.

They already made phones that have no signal when you hold them (4s) bending phones (iphone 6 line) iPads that fold like paper (current gen iPad pro)

My head are inline with most of the youtube reviewer, so i cannot see through "normies" eyes.

For me android gadgets are getting better each day, especially in the mid market.

Having the Huawei p30 and S10 on top of each reviews beating iphone to the dust.

Maybe if you looked at US market, the top selling phones are not inline with the worldwide tops.

It still have LG and Motorola in top 5, when both companies don't make any breakthrough phone anymore.

As it turns out the dead phone's model (P30 Pro) only gets its IP68 rating with all the holes for the speakers blocked off with clay. In other words, even if you use a clean basin of water without blocking off the little holes, it could die

Unlike sony's, samsung learn from their mistakes.

Look at their newest mid tier lineups with dew drop (oppo) notch, big batteries and wide angled camera.

They denied the existance of the dew notch for a long time, now they embrace it.

The idea that android can't sell may be true in USA.

I live in Europe, and 99% of the people are using android. iPhone is pretty much just a status symbol.

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

I personally think the quality of android has gone downhill over the last few years.   For me it went from a very versatile robust OS to a finicky (every update breaks something) mess of accounts and confusing menus that lock you into services you don't need.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I personally made the switch to iOS due to a horrifically unstable Note 8 and the preceding phone being an absolute lemon even after 2 replacements.

I bought an XS Max. Better battery life than any phone I have ever used, and the most stable by far.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

i take GREAT issue with that statement. There are people out there who buy bmw and mercedes as a status symbol, but having actually driven some of the nicer cars from them, there's a reason people like the cars despite the reliability and cost of repair issues. they drive excellent, absolutely excellent. They actually have status because the cars work and drive really freaking well, and offer tech and luxury (albeit at a price) that others dont or cant.

Apple products on the other hand don't offer anything that others dont. They have a dumbed down UI with fewer functions, locked down software, and cater to design above everything else, to the detriment of performance and features. Macbooks are just actual hot garbage, and the only thing that even can compete, the iphone, is so crazily overpriced its insane. Apple is purely a status symbol, whereas audi, bmw, mercedes, all actually offer things and compelling features others dont.

No, it really isnt. There are a tiny segment of programs that cater to apple exclusively. But overwhelmingly the reason artists choose apple, is because they think its better than the competition, or because thats what they were taught to use in school. Windows has counter offers to almost all the software used, and at a far better price premium.

Apple spent so long saying they devices were for artists and creators, that hardly anyone questions it, they've all just bought the marketing.

except you completely ignored the argument that those companies have a reputation for a REASON. they have, and continue to make excellent cars, and actually offer something to people besides being a status symbol. And no, having actually spoken a huge amount of bmw and audi and mercedes owners, a tiny, TINY portion buy them because of the status, they buy them because they are just plainly great cars.

You're comparing apples and oranges, it would have been far better to compare apple to beats lol

Really liked older Samsung devices. Especially the slide-out keyboard ones. Great product for Android as a whole.

Had Samsung Wave (BadaOS powered) and it was great phone, I just hate it how Samsung killed it after very short time. I also had Galaxy S2. Can't complain over it. I actually still have it with CyanogenMod installed. Probably gonna give it to my mom after her even older HTC Wildfire dies. Haven't really had much contact with Samsung after that. I generally hear good things about it, especially the ONE UI. TouchWiz was fine as far as I'm concerned.
