Any way to fix gaps between copper and aluminum on heatsink?

 

D85CF862-AAFA-4D49-B511-BAA6E16E87D7.thumb.jpeg.1495ccca49a089d6c5a818bc427b5b48.jpeg As you can see in the photo, there are some gaps between the copper and aluminum. Should I fill the gaps with thermal paste? Or is there a better way? Or does it simply not matter. I am not buying a new one as this heatsink is from an OEM computer. Thanks

I just use a spatula and fill with paste. Works great for me.

I'd leave it alone.  You can't guarantee that whatever you use will conduct heat well and not decrease the effectiveness of the heatsink.

 

Is it working fine right now?  If so, leave it.

Thermal paste is pretty much it.

Maybe polish/flatten a bit with wet and dry sandpaper (or whatever the proper name is)

No need to fill the gap.

You really just want to have the copper one in contact with the cpu.

I see that the aluminium is just a bracket, not designed to help the cooling.

It’s just in my cheep used Optiplex. I was upgrading the CPU when I noticed this and the weird thermal paste spread on the old one.

Dont worry too much about it then. Just use a bit more paste than normal
