How to fix my d drive being almost full

So i recently swapped my laptop's old hard drive with an ssd, which was a great move. I eneded up cloning the drive with crucial's recommended acronis software. The move was from a 1TB drive to a 500 gb drive, i didn't need the extra room, the only issue being now the D drive is nearly full. 2 mb free full. I keep getting annoying popups saying for me to fix it, but honestly I don't know how. Any tips for a remedy? at the very least to get the notifications to stop?

Open disk management and unallocate another gigabyte from C drive and allocate to D drive. Make sure D drive isn't defaulted for downloads or installs. It's the Recovery Partition for Windows which shouldn't affect the speed of your system or C partition.

Thanks for the help guys! So I have the old hard drive at home, so i can do that. Out of curiosity for freeing up the space from c to allocate to d in disk management, I was able to shrink the c drive by a gig, but i couldn't then extend the d drive. (I was guessing the shrink was the correct thing to do when i right clicked the drives there)

AFAIK you can't extend a partition "to the left", only to the right. I'm guessing the C partition (that's what they're called if they're on the same physical drive) comes before the D partition in disk management?

isn't that nice? Recovery partition dont get written to normally anyway
