9990K and 2080TI

Afternoon, Folk  have a 9900k cpu at 5ghz and a GPU 2080ti strix OC runs at around 1950mhz when on games. I am playing games for instance the division 2 and on 1920x1080 ultra settings i'm getting like 84fps average and sometimes its dropping below 60. when i did a bench mark i'm getting like gpu 63 percent cpu 47i get that certain games do this but i'm seeing people with my exact setup get 140fps avg. can someone explain the best thing to do about this iv'e checked drivers all up to date iv'e checked windows again that's fine as well as bios?

thanks for replying my 9900k is OC and i have OC setting enabled on my gpu which is the OC edition my temps are around 45-50 on both cpu and gpu when playing

Verified with CPU-Z that your CPU is actually running the full 5Ghz under load? If it is, I'd try a GPU driver clean install to rule that out as an issue. Only getting 83fps at 1080p with a 2080 Ti is wack, I can push 4K60 easily with an RVII and your card is a heck of a lot faster.

hi i am using CAM for NZXT none are maxing out the gpu and cpu are just fighting to take the load

You should try a clean install of GPU drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). I can push at least half of that with integrated graphics.

^ Also I'd check the settings in-game. If you use GeForce Experience and let it auto-optimize games, it sometimes enables DSR and such. Could be pushing 1440p or mebbe 4K without knowing it.

yep running at 5ghz when playing i just bought this gpu for 1200 yesterday haha

Looked everywhere for DSR and can't see it i will re install drivers if this doesn't work where do i go from there

question is also why is my cpu taking more of the load on the game than my gpu

Could be an issue with your overclocks, try reverting back to stock settings and see if your framerate changes. Also there have been some tests done where people have noticed slight bottlenecks from overclocking the 2080ti and running even an overclocked 9900k. Not because the speed but because the 2080ti has such a high performance overhead. I would try it with stock settings on both the card and CPU and then try with just the CPU overclocked with the 2080ti on stock settings, also make sure your bios and windows are up to date. Also noticed from your signature that you have only one SSD? What type of drive do you have for your games?

i'm running my games of a HDD 1tb

Division 2 is fine, I ran it at 120 or so fps at 1080p, 4K 60 fps with a 4.4Ghz i7 5820K and Radeon VII, off a 7200rpm HDD. OP should easily be pinning it at 144fps with his CPU/GPU combo.

What DP cable are you using?

 

Has to be DP 1.2 or newer and a good cable.

yes i agree so re installed new drivers and still the same at times i'm actually getting 45-50fps.. something has to be terribly wrong

The latest NVIDIA driver has issues.

 

Go back to 425.31.

Try removing any OCs you have on stuff and see if it runs any different.

sorry man where i do i find out what dp cable i have i just know i got it from amazon for £10 last year i do know when i go into nvidia panel it says 60hz but in game it changes to 144hz

Set it to 144hz in the control panel.

 

Look up the Amazon order and post the actual cable.

when in control panel the monitor that has the dp cable in just has options up to 60hz
