Help buying friends 2080ti

I have a 2080ti but my friend is looking for one Anyone know much about people selling GPUs on eBay claiming there’s no warranty  with it as it’s been sent by a supplier.. friends  looking at a 2080ti Asus Strix on eBay and the guys saying he doesn’t know how old it is it’s sent by a supplier but the by the looks of it it’s brand new. Should He be weary of this or is it fine by imports are the meaning of back of lorries and sent down the chain or what. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you link the eBay listing?

 

eBay has pretty good buyer protection against fraud/fake listings and as long as the seller has a good reputation it should be all good.

 

 

Ads like 2080ti for 100 bucks, well avoid those obvs.

I wonder if those are fixed artifacting cards. Some brands replace cards instead of fixing you know, but then dont know how to get rid of these refurb stuff.

 

Or maybe they are repaired by some repair shop, hence no warranty.

 

It's definitely a larger risk than getting something used and kicking

It uses non stock images, it's a nice high price, so I would take the risk since eBay buyer protection has your back.

Yeah by the looks of it he sells hundreds of GPUs just has no idea where  they come from when he receives them he fully tests them as can be seen on the ad

Yeah It’s a difficult one also mentions coil whine but after 5 months must of had some serious bashing.

Coil whine does have something to do with age. Over time the inductors can get loose and start buzzing you know. Of course sometimes they go away over time, so it's really hard to say
