Gigabyte X470 Ultra gaming auros bios update

I am using the stock bios(f3 maybe?) And the latest bios available on their website is f30. Should I update my bios? If yes then should I use Gigabyte @bios or should I update it manually? I don't want to brick the mobo as there is no customer support available here and I have imported this mobo.

It will be fine either way.  I just use a USB drive and go to the bios to do it on my gaming 7.

I have the B450 Aorus wifi ITX board and just updated its BIOS from F2 to F31 using the @bios app from Gigabyte to do it and had zero issues.

Download the BIOS and use a flash drive to update. Don't forget to update the chipset beforehand!!!!

I am not sure if the f30 bios is stable or any better then the stock bios. I think I will wait for a month before updating.

It's stable. I use it on my ultra gaming you use support for the Bristol ridge cpu's tho. But you gain support for zen 2

@Wolly9102 have you tried ocing your ram to 3200mhz or above in this bios?

Hahaha. I installed the gigabyte one. It's a requirement before the BIOS can be updated

haven't. I run at stock 2666, because I am noob with ram overclocking XD. But I don't think it will cause an issue. Haven't experienced any problems with this bios

I have oced the rams but updating bios will be my first experience. What will happen if I don't update the chipset before updating the bios? Will it brick my mobo?

I can't say for sure because I do update the chipset if it says I need to , (don't wanna find out)but I think it will render your pc unable to boot until you flash back the recovery bios.

 

Updating the chipset is very simple. You just extract the package downloaded from gigabyte and install the exe. Reboot and all done

One more question. Does this mobo has a dual bios? If it does, then is it a switch? How to use the second bios if you fuced up.

Yes it has, but there isn't a switch,

 

I copied the methods on how to restore the back-up bios from reddit

Method 1

1. Shut off your computer
2. Hold the power button until your computer starts and shuts down again
3. Press the power button again, your backup BIOS should kick in now and should re-flash the backup BIOS if there's anything wrong with the new one.

Method 2

1. Shut off your computer
2. Hold the power AND the reset button for about 10 sec, than release.
3. It should boot into the backup BIOS now.

Method 3
Only use this if nothing else works.

1. Short out pins 1 and 6 on the main BIOS chip by attaching a jumper to both the pins (pin #1 should be marked with a red dot or whatever)
2. Tell a friend to press the power on button while you do this because right now you are holding the jumper on the pins
3. Remove the jumper you're holding between pins 1 and 6 as soon as you hear a beep.
4. Backup BIOS should boot now.
