Regarding the LTT Water Bottle

Willock

So, not trying to do a "gotcha!" piece or anything here, I'm sure most of us who buy from the LTT store do it to support LTT and get cool LTT branded items, not to get something that's 100% unique - anyway, more of a "if you want to know" sort of thing, but the LTT "Water Bottle" (aka flask aka thermos) is obviously customized OEM product that you can buy elsewhere.

YHgxGtM.jpg

Anyway, you can buy a version of it from Kaxani.com for $13.99

This also confirms its 18oz, as there was some confusion there on the WAN show.

Interestingly, LTT have backed off a bit on the specs a bit, claiming 8 hours hot, 16 hours cold, whereas the OEM version claims 12 hours hot, 24 hours cold.

It's also BPA-free and non-toxic!

So if you missed out and want a good-quality (I assume) water bottle, then you can get a hold of one there - it supports charity too, apparently.

Edit: you can also get it in some other colours like Orange, so hopefully if they do another run they can do an orange one as that looks pretty cool too.

Most of the stuff sold as merch are rebranded from OEM. That's how it works. I would say these two are enough apart that you either get it branded or don't bother at all.

Do we know if it's aluminium or plastic?

I guess it's SS based on the kaxani listing

Does anyone know if there's either a zip lid or a flip up straw lid that will fit? I have to have my bottle sealed at all times at work and it's a lot easier than unscrewing it every 10 minutes.

After buying (and FINALLY getting) the LTT Water Bottle, i now fear for my life as it has a horrendous industrialized cancer smell, and what ever i put in it, tastes the same.

I've washed it four times already.

No change...

It looks amazing though!!!

i would have left a review but i bought it hastily and didn't create an account with the store.

I bought a crystal and several other things from China on eBay in the past and it smelled the same, so it just rings the "came from some knockoff store in China" bell for me

I don't think it should be like that

I highly doubt LTT would get merch like that

Try washing it with a solution of 1 part bleach 2 parts water....put it in,, swish it around for a bit...good couple of minutes, dump it out, rinse, then wash thouroughly with hot soapy water.

Like any water bottle, I would strongly recommend washing it VERY thoroughly with VERY hot water several times before using it. The smell DOES go away. I've been using mine for a while.

As for it being based on an OEM design, yes of course :) The main work we did was on the inks for the graphics. They look really good :)

Maybe they'll let us in on the secret of how those Bananas always stay so perfectly ripe? @LinusTech Are the Bananas water cooled with a chiller? Custom loop or AIO?

Mine smelled really bad too and I washed it once and started using it. Tastes the same as my Hydro Flask water bottle. It will go away.

Yeah, looks like the mouth size is standard and it's the same as Hydro Flask Spout, I got mine from Ali and its fits perfectly

Its clear even from the picture that the Linus bottle is taller. I have the LTT bottle, you can pour a 20oz water bottle into it with room to spare. I'm gonna say it's probably 22-24oz.
