Laptop shuts down under CPU load ONLY on battery. (and 135Mhz GPU lock on battery)

I have a Precision M6700 with a quadro K3000M and i7 3720qm, if I connect to AC power there is no issues, quadro goes to 650+Mhz and doesnt shutdown under CPU load (though it gets quite hot, 85-95c). But if I unplug it the GPU immediately drops to 135Mhz and within a few seconds of starting a CPU stress test the laptop shuts off.  The error in the BIOS says 'ASF2 force off', looking that up doesn't seem to help, there are some people saying its battery, some saying it's main board, some saying its GPU, CPU, etc.  I have an extra main board that I will swap in tomorrow and see if the issue still persists.  The dell pre-boot diagnostics shows everything as passing and the shutdowns are there under any OS, I tried Hirens 2, Windows 10, and it even shutdown on the Dell pre-boot diagnostics under CPU test (which just stresses the CPU).  I can't imagine it's the CPU though because it only happens on battery power.  The GPU issue is less of a deal for me, the K3000 in the laptop is limited to 135Mhz on battery, I've tried power settings, new drivers, old drivers, nothing seems to make a difference.  I am waiting on a GPU upgrade anyway so the main point of this is to fix the shutdown under CPU stress tests on battery.

Sounds 100% like battery to me.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

I thought that as well, but this battery is pretty new (like 2-3 months old) and everything shows it as working fine, Ill swap in the board tomorrow and if it still shuts down I'll probably end up replacing the battery...

Sounds like a plan. Some batteries are defective, this may be one of those. Was it an OEM battery? If you bought a cheap china battery it may not be up to the task.

I bought it from eBay as an OEM battery, and it looks legitimate, but I have no guarantee of it.

Seems legit to me, but i don't have much to compare it too. Get back to me when you replace the mainboard and see how it does!

Swapped the boards and the issue is still there, leading me to believe its probably the battery, too bad my return window is like 2 months past :/
