this article might help, if your drive operates at 60 regularly then that's bad, but if that's just a peak temp from a specific load then don't worry about it.

Hi everyone..

 

I just played game for 3 hours, and after I finished play I found my SSD temp is at 50C and maxed at 60C. I played 2 games in that 3 hours gaming session.

The M.2 slot is located on the back of the motherboard, it's around 1cm near under the edge of CPU cooler backplate if this matters, and that is the one and only M.2 slot this motherboard has.

 

Is this safe temp for an SSD to operate?

If it's not safe, how can I make it to get cooler?

Does SSD heatsink even help, considering its location?

What operating temp is considered safe for SSD?

Perfectly safe, the NAND of an SSD likes to be hot for writes anyways, the storage controller won't be having any issues at this temp.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

And? That's perfectly normal + fine for m.2 SSDs
