Best stock room organization

Hello Linus et al,

 

I was hoping LTT would do a video/series to show us how they organize and store their equipment, track it, etc.

 

We struggle with optimizing space for racks, carts, and workbench.

Yeah, one of the recent videos they said they have not one but 2 people who's job it is to organize their inventory.  I assume if these people are paid to do so then they must have some level of expertise on the subject.

 For the most part, it should be dependent on how you categorize things in a way that it's convenient for your team.

They have already ton of videos showing it. And two office tours made by other youtubers. In short, they use barcode scanners and numbered shelves. Just like any storage would use. For volatile equipment such as memory cards there's labels on both case/holder and card matching. As Linus said in iJustine studio tour, card is always in reader, in camera or in holder. And there's log which tell which card is used by whom and for what. I don't know if thats done in management system too or not. I've seen similar done with Outlook calendar where equipment has its own calendar and people using it mark the time/date/duration and use case when marking it for their use.
