need help with build.. pc for 3dsmax

Hello all I am planning to build a new pc mainly for running 3dsmax. iam not sure which components i should spend more on. gpu or cpu.? i dont know whether 3dsmax is gpu or cpu intensive software..

please help with some parts suggestions

my budget is around 1000 usd 

these are the parts i have shortlisted 

1.ryzen 5 2600 or ryzen 7 1700 (not sure which one to chose) 6core vs 8 cores 

2. asus tuf b450 motherboard 

3. 8x2 g skill ddr4 ram 

4. gtx 1660 graphics

Uhh I looked it up and it depends on what engine you're using. Some use CPU and others use GPU

 

CPU- Scanline, ART, Arnold

GPU- Quicksilver, Redshift, V-Ray RT

okay then.. i have a limited budget.. suggest me some good cpus which one should i choose ryzen or intel ?

Generally, you'd probably want to go with Ryzen with this kind of workload. More cores for a much cheaper price. If you can, I'd strongly recommend that you wait for Ryzen 3000 which should be right around the corner

Sounds like you don't even know much about 3dsmax.  You may want to figure that out, it will impact what you build.

 try this one. all solid state drive, you can change it to some SSD and some HDD depending on what you want however.

why go older. check what i said. r7 2700, with a vega 56.

if your renderer/exporter uses the GPU instead I recommend going for clockspeed.

depends on wether you wanna do cpu or gpu rendering among other things. check out this benchmark for example

not much difference from 1700 to 2700 

also gpu wise id stick to nvidia just because 3d modelling of any kind the software has always favoured sometimes required nvidia.
