Concerned about cooling an Intel 9940x

Go to solution Solved by schwellmo92,

If you don't overclock it will be fine.

Hello,

I am currently building a computer that will be using an Intel 9940x. This computer will see a lot of usage so I am having issues with cooling. I'd like it to not be super loud and I don't have the biggest budget. I got this processor as a hand me down from my friend so I can't go with something else. I don't have the budget for a big water cooling system sadly. I currently have a Corsair 115i pro and a Fractal design r6 black case. I am wondering if what I currently have will be good enough. Thank you all.

H115i will do. Or rahter, you cant get better for less noise without going custom.

You can OC a 9940x on an H115i, I've done an i9 7940x to 4.6, couldn't come further only because it was a crap chip and the voltage wouldn't be stable any higher than like 1.27

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

No plans to overclock it. I really appreciate your help! I feel better now after getting some second opinions.
