With enough speakers you can.

You can also make it sound like a Saturn V or an N1 or a Soyuz

Well that's the death cry of the car industry in one ill thought out piece of legislation, if all you can ever do regardless is 70 (or if the Hollyrood Idiots get their way up north 40) then what's the point in owning any car that costs more then about 6k brand new.

I can just imagine the penny dropping at Ferrari, Porsche, Austin Martin, TVR, Audi etc. that they are going to be seeing the mother of all sales drops in the future.

Time to dump those stocks now!

Luckily I ride 2 wheels, least they have not mentioned neutering those............... yet!

That's what tracks are for. Also you can still play with the fast acceleration as well.

I'd rather not have the fake engine sounds, its bad enough those are in cars and trucks and in many of them you can't turn it off.

Would love to know how this is going to be applied where I live as if it is going to apply to the UK, then it's going to get applied on those sold where I live. We do however have areas with no speed limit (like some parts of the autobahn), but on what most of you would call country roads...

Isle of Man I assume?

Likewise most country roads roads in the mainland use the ‘national speed limit’ which is 60mph for most vehicles. Which is impossible for reach (unless you want to crash).

Other than range and dry weight an electric motor will out strip a V8, turbo or super, in torque. It's even more in favor of the electric motor if you look at usable torque and the torque curves.

There is a good reason freight trains are diesel electric and not diesel.

If a electric truck made the same power and range with the same towing complicity what is the difference besides saving money on fuel?

Supercharger, yes, V8 no.

you can recreate the supercharger sound by using straight gears which makes a gear whine sound. (reverse gear in most cars are straight)

Here is a upcoming electric truck

https://products.rivian.com/

750 HP

Range
Up to 400+ miles*

Acceleration
0-60 in 3 seconds*

Payload
800kg*

Towing Capacity
5,000 kg*

You can double the range by adding a second tank.

You can add a generator motor.

You can add a high wattage inverter.

Diesels tend to not have range drop like a rock with heavy towing.

From my experience, a lot of those other things are found after getting pulled over for speeding. I guess they'll have to be more aggressive with J Walkers, tail lights, and emissions issues.

So much hate for SUV's and gasoline cars in general in these forums. "With enough speakers you can replicate the sound of a V8 with a supercharger" NO. That is not how this works. You are welcome to drive and invest in electric car technology without forcing everyone to switch to electric. Until there is an electric car that can be charged in the same time that a gasoline car can be refueled, there is already a massive downside to owning an electric car. Gasoline cars don't lose range when driving in the cold, battery packs lose energy from cold environments.

There is nothing wrong for pushing for electric cars, I think we should. But I also understand that my power grid is primarily powered by coal/natural gas so I would just be passing the emissions to another place.

Except these sources are more efficient...... Also people here also really want tl move away from thise aswell.

Not really, their voltage drops. Which yes results in less range, but there is a small difference.

I have been pushing for train development in my state because it would open up dramatic amounts of opportunity for people in my area. Without the train I am forced to use my gasoline car instead, and given the climate of my region, I have an SUV.

Politicians ultimately stop the development of the trains in my area even though there is a slowly growing demand for it. I want the Coal/Natural Gas power plants replaced with greener solutions, but I also know that this idea of "nobody has personal veichles" is never going to happen because humans are extremely possessive of the things they own.

1. fair point, but in theory you could add a second battery pack

2. you could use the batter or bring a hydrogen generator (keeping it eco friendly)

3. EV systems can have this too.

4. their range drops, they can go from 20 MPG to 5MPG. (IDK which would drop more)

but my point/question is if a EV truck matches all your needs and has lower cost per mile would you still not buy it?

Well my goal would be a situation like Asia where you can get anywhere using trains instead of cars. Cars will probably stick around, but if ownership makes little to no sense people will stop using them.

Just look at Japan. You dont really need a car there. (Or at least from what i can tell)

Takes up too much room.

The only modern trucks that do this that dramatically are the EcoBust F150 and towing over listed capacity. Otherwise you might see a 20MPG truck dropping to 16, whereas we've seen electrics drop by half.

At the cost of range.

Either at the cost of range or the cost of size.

You can't work on electric cars, there are billions and billions of dollars spent on car enthusiasts, not to mention the tons of car shops that will go out of business.
