Hi guys, I'm having big frame drops in cs:go from around 250 to even 90 which its not really great experience. I'm using mat_queue_mode 2 and fps_max 0 (unlimited) which helped me a little but I believe i can push this cpu further. Any ideas what to do?

i mean, you could try bclk overclocking if your motherboard supports it, but it has a low chance of succeeding and a lot of boards don't even support it

so the best way is to upgrade it

I got H61 chipset so no way to do that

I know its really cpu game but why is it only on 60% usage when fps_max is set to 0 and i just want to use as much as its possible?

cpu usage isn't all, in some games the i5 doesn't show 100 or even 80% of usage, but if you get a i7 the FPS will be higher. The cpu have a limit of what can be done at once, so if you need to do 6 process and you have 4 cores even if the process is easy to do it will take sometime as non threaded cpu can do only one thing (per core) at once and because of that it will need to keep switching process what can make the process take more time and make the FPS go lower.

It's single thread intensive.

Open up task manager and you may see one of the core(thread) has much higher usage than others.

You can only make CPU faster by overclocking it. But you can make game run smoother by reducing graphical intersity, removing background processes, having game on SSD and so on.
